Playing with Gravity: What Scullers can learn from Nordic Skiers

Troy on a liquid Big Hosmer.

If you know Craftsbury Fleet Manager Troy Howell, you know that he is an omnivorous athlete. He is always trying new sports, new approaches to old drills or technical points, or just generally expanding his athletic palette through tons of reading and personal experimentation – all with the goal of making the boat go faster. He shares some of his thoughts in his own blog, Sculling and Stuff Like It. A recent post that shares the same title as this one typifies his approach and resulting analysis. It seemed a great article to share with both scullers and skiers – and introduce this test pilot side of Troy as well. You can read it here.
