Marathon Results!

Wow! What a day! While the weather by no means made it to balmy, the absence of wind and sun-filled skies made a memorable day for all - even almost pleasant! But perhaps no more so than for Elizabeth Youngman and Patrick O'Brien as they took the 50k titles by over 7 and 3 minutes respectively; solid results for both skiers. You can find full results here:

Our intention is to put these into our searchable results database for your data-tranching pleasure some time in the coming week.

Thanks so much to everyone for coming out - and special shout out to the new US Masters' National Champs crowned here this weekend. Scoring for that should be completed early in the week. See you all next year, Saturday, January ...

Victories for Freeman, Patterson at Craftsbury SuperTour Wk 1/Day 1

Racers opened weekend one of National caliber competition in Craftsbury today with wins for Kris Freeman in the men's 30k and Caitlin Patterson in the women's 20k. Both races broke up early with an early lead group of around a dozen, thinning down to a select group as the race wore on - the freshly falling snow certainly rewarded conservative pack tactics and late surges.

Current men's USSA SuperTour points leader Kris Freeman's narrow win over APU's Eric Packer provides a confirmation of good form heading into World Championship starts. The New Hampshire native (and Craftsbury Marathon winner) was named to the World Champs team for Falun 2015 after a strong showing all season to lead the USSA SuperTour over today's fourth placed finisher Dakota Blackhorse-Von Jess.

For women's winner ...

Marathon - 30 Jan 15 Update

As of Friday evening, the Marathon will take place as planned, starting at 9 a.m.

The latest weather forecast continues to show temps that are better than we were seeing a few days ago. The wind is forecast to be a 10 mph at 9 a.m. (better for the start), then up to 11 in the next few hours. We will continue to evaluate the situation over the night and into the morning.

Changes to the plan may be made in the morning if warranted to address both safety and competitive concerns of all participants—both racers and volunteers.

Given the chilly temps, we will be taking the following steps for the safety and comfort of both racers and volunteers:

For racers:
- We will waive the day-of-race distance change fee. 50k entrants may switch to 25k by completing an “Athlete Change Form” at ...

30 Jan AM - Marathon Update

Marathoners,

The current forecast is showing a slight warming trend, which is encouraging. As of now, we are planning to run the Marathon as scheduled.

However, it will still be very important that participants dress appropriately for the cold temps. Wind chill will also be a factor. Bare skin should be minimized.

We will post/send another update this evening if anything has changed. And final announcements will be made on race morning as needed.
