Pan American Games Trials Wrap Up in New Jersey

The Outdoor Center's Sprinter and boat trailer have become a bit of a fixture at the Casperson Rowing Center in Princeton, New Jersey over the past 10 days as athletes competed at the second National Selection Regatta and then the Pan American Games Trials. The Pan American Games are held the year prior to the Olympics and are open to athletes from the Americas. This year's Games are in Toronto, Canada and the rowing events will be held in St. Catherines at the site of the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta from July 11th to 15th. Because national team trials are based off of a 4-lane progression, with no lower-level finals, there was plenty of opportunity for high stakes racing for all the Craftsbury boats entered.

Craftsbury: Nordic Club of the Year

While the ski season at Craftsbury may be over, the Outdoor Center was honored twice this past week, receiving both NENSA’s highest honor as well as Nordic Club of the Year from USSA.

The Outdoor Center is honored and humbled to receive these awards. What the Center is and does grows from the amazing ski culture it enjoys in Vermont and across New England. The on-site crew is a small part of this much larger team, this much larger, dedicated community of skiers, volunteers, athletes, racers, coaches, and people enjoying winter, sliding on snow.

Thanks to both organizations for the recognition of our efforts and for their partnership and support of our mission, and huge thanks to all of you for being an integral part of that team and supporting the Center's mission. Can't wait for ...

Willie Cowles wins men's heavyweight single at NSR II

After a short trip back to Vermont, Craftsbury was back on the water at the second National Selection Regatta in Princeton, NJ to compete for a chance to send athletes to the World Cup circuit this summer. The GRP had athletes competing in the men’s and women’s open single sculls, as well as the men’s quad and the men’s lightweight double. The winners of all today’s events have the opportunity to either go to the second World Cup in Varese, Italy from June 19th-21st or the third World Cup in Lucerne, Switzerland from July 10th-12th. If the US representative there places in the top 7 (or top 50% of events with less than 12 entries,) then they clinch their spot on the 2015 Senior National Team that will compete at the World Championships in Aiguebelette, France from August ...
