GRP Biathletes Compete in Canmore World Cup

After a brief hiatus, biathlon World Cup racing action resumed this past week in Canmore, Alberta with impressive results coming from GRP biathletes Susan Dunklee and Hannah Dreissigacker.

In Friday's 7.5k sprint, Hannah had the top American women's finish in 28th with two misses. Susan wasn't far behind in 35th. Conditions were blustery which made shooting a challenge. Susan was the only American starter in Saturday's mass start race. She placed 30th.

Both Susan and Hannah competed in Sunday's mixed relay along with teammates Tim Burke, and Lowell Bailey. Susan scrambled and got the team off to a strong start. After the first shooting, in which Susan cleaned using three spares, she was skiing in second place. Susan tagged off to Hannah who skied a strong leg keeping the team in 3rd ...

Junior Champions at Lake Placid Eastern Cup/ Supertour

This weekend, juniors had the opportunity to compete against older racers in the combined Eastern Cup and Supertour event held in Lake Placid. The Craftsbury juniors fared very well in the races held at the Olympic jumping complex, that featured a long climb and rolling downhills.

Saturday was a freestyle event, where Alex Lawson and Callie Young qualified for the open women’s heats in 29th and 30th, respectively. They both finished sixth in their quarterfinals (Alex’s first sprint heats ever!), giving Callie the overall U16 win for the day and Alex won for the U18s! Phoebe Sweet and Ruby Lamb qualified for the U16 heats, where they raced to 6th (57th overall) and 11th (81st overall), respectively. Avery Ellis qualified for the U18/U20 heats, where she finished third. In addition, ...

GRP Biathletes Post Strong Results at World Cup, IBU Cup, and Canadian NorAm

World Cup in Antholz, Italy

GRP biathletes Clare Egan and Susan Dunklee competed in Antholz, Italy over the weekend in World Cup 6, which included a sprint, a pursuit, and a women’s 4x6k relay. Both Susan and Clare did not have their best days in the sprint; Susan shot well (1+1) but was missing her usual speed on skis and finished 37th. Clare cleaned in prone but then had 3 standing misses to take 67th. The pursuit two days later was a different game for Susan, she found her ski speed with the 4th fastest ski split, and made 17 out of 20 shots to climb up to 17th. The next day, the US women tested out a different relay order in the 4x6k, with Clare scrambling, Susan in second leg, then US biathletes Annelies Cook and Joanne Reid finishing. Clare had a solid relay leg, using only ...
