Week 13 Results: Tuesday Night Trail Race

The final Tuesday Night Trail Race of the season was well attended with over 40 people toeing the line. In the running race, Daniel Grosvenor was the first finisher while Quincey Massey-Bierman was the first female across the line. Ollie Burruss and Caitlin Patterson claimed the overall season titles for this event. In the 5k bike race, David Moody was the first finisher and his win gave him enough points to displace Finn Sweet for the overall lead. Callie Young was the overall female leader in this event. In the 10k bike race, Emmett Avery was the first finisher while Matt Moody and Caroline Kessler were the overall season leaders.

Thank you all for racing this season and hopefully we'll see you next year!

Wildflower Walk

Summer Wildflower Walk, Saturday, August 22, 2:00-4:00 pm

Eva Dannenberg, a local plant ecologist, will lead a walk/hike through the Craftsbury Outdoor Center's woods. We'll observe and identify local plant life such as ferns, goldenrods, and many woodland plant species in fruit at this time of
year. This will be a moderately paced walk through the Center's sometimes hilly and potentially wet forestland. Meet on the Activity Center porch at 2:00 pm.

Local Dinner: August 29, 6:00pm

Saturday, August 29, 6:00pm:  come sample a variety of dishes, made from local ingredients, prepared and hosted by the Craftsbury Outdoor Center in our new Activity Center.

Meals include coffee and tea service (BYOB is permitted). Reservations are required to participate in the evening and cost $21/person for ages 13 and up, $12/person for ages 6-12, with kids under six free. Craftsbury members (including Craftsbury and Albany residents) get a $3/head discount. Prices do NOT include the required 9% VT State Rooms & Meals tax. Week 12 Results: Tuesday Night Trail Race

Thirty-one racers competed in this week's race despite the intense heat. Ollie Burruss captured his first win on Course A and has secured his overall season lead. GRP rower Maggie Fellows was the first female finisher and Caitlin Patterson still holds onto the women's overall lead. In the 5k bike event, David Moody and Adrienne Remick had a tight race with David pulling through for the win by only 6 seconds. Callie Young still holds the overall season lead in this event and Finn Sweet is the current overall male leader. In the 10k bike event Matt Moody finished first, also securing his overall season lead. Caroline Kessler is the overall female leader in this event. Next week is the final race of the season and will be followed by pizza and awards!

GRP Biathletes at Jericho Biathlon Trials

This past weekend Jericho, VT welcomed over 80 biathletes from the US, Canada, and Sweden to the North American Rollerski Cup. The Craftsbury Green Racing Project and Junior biathlon program was well represented with 4 competitors in the men’s race, 7 in the women’s race, and 2 in the junior category. Competitors battled hot temperatures and hilly courses, but benefitted from the newly repaved range loop at Jericho. These trials races, combined with another set of trials in early October, will help the US Biathlon coaches choose the team for the first World Cups of the season in mid-November.

Saturday’s race was a sprint format individual start with 2 shooting stages, 1 prone and 1 standing. US Biathlon and Craftsbury biathlete Susan Dunklee had the best GRP result of the day, ...

Over 60 runners toed the line yesterday for the eleventh Tuesday Night Trail Race. Ollie Burruss finished first for the men and Caitlin Patterson was first for the women. Both Ollie and Cailtin have maintained their current overall season leads. Unfortunately the bike events were cancelled due to copious amounts of rain.  Hopefully next week will be less wet!

Canadian Henley Sunday Update

A handful of GRP and SBTC scullers are still up in St. Catherines, Ontario racing at the 2015 Royal Canadian Henley Regatta. On the men's side, GRPers (and former Harvard teammates) Andrew Reed and Parker Washburn, racing in the men's champ pair, won their semifinal to advance to this morning's final, which they also won by a whopping seven and a half seconds. They defeated crews from the St. Catharines Rowing Club, Victoria City Rowing Club and Mendota Rowing Club. Ben Davison, racing in the men's champ single, finished second in his heat to advance to Sunday afternoon's final where he won silver. 

On the women's side, Maggie Fellows just missed out on a spot in the women's champ single final, finishing third in her semifinal. SBTCers Kristi Wagner and Shiann Gardner both advanced ...
