U23 Worlds Wrapped up in Bulgaria

With winning Sunday’s men’s single B-final, Ben Davison (Ivernesss, FL) wrapped up the Craftsbury Small Boat Training Center’s action at the U23 World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

Holding first-place position throughout the race, Davison won the B-final with a time of 7:01.4. He beat single scullers from Romania, Lithuania, Hungary, Kazakhstan and Monaco.

Davison’s seventh place finish marks the best United States finish in the men’s single. The previous best finish was former SBTC athlete and current Green Racing Project rower, Ben Dann (Pound Ridge, NY), who got 11th at the 2011 U23 Championships. Davison topped his performance at last year’s U23 Championships, where he finished 21st.

Save the Date- Oktoberfest 2015!

Mark your calendars for Craftsbury’s social and sporting event of the fall. Oktoberfest weekend (October 3rd and 4th this year) is always a great way to kick off the fall season with a smorgasbord of fun racing events and the always popular Oktoberfest local dinner, complete with a beer garden.

On Saturday, the 3rd of October starting at 9 am there will be the Singletrack Shootout, a mountain biking/running biathlon race featuring the Center’s singletrack trails. Competitors will race 5 times around a singletrack loop with four shooting stages. Novices and experts alike are welcome; novices will have ammo and rifles provided and a shooting clinic will precede the novice race.

On Saturday afternoon at 1 pm the Center will host the Henley on Hosmer Regatta, a rowing race on Big ...

Week 8 Results: Tuesday Night Trail Race

Over 50 racers turned out for this week's Tuesday Night Trail Race. Ollie Burruss notched another first place finish to help maintain his current overall season lead. Joanna Johnson laid down a fast time and was the first female finisher. Caitlin Patterson is this season's current overall female leader. In the 5k bike event, Adam Glueck was the top male finisher while Callie Young was the first female finisher. Finn Sweet is the current male leader in this event and Claire Ellis is the current female leader. In the 10k bike race, Matt Moody continued his winning streak with another first place finish. He still remains this season's current overall leader.

Next week the runners will compete on Course A (yellow) and the bikers will race on Course B (white). Click here for the full ...

Week 7 Results: Tuesday Night Trail Race

Last week's race was hosted up at Hosmer Point. Thanks to Jon Hammond for putting together the course! Ollie Burruss led the way in the running event to win his first race of the season. He still holds the overall lead. Caitlin Patterson was the first female finisher and is now the current overall female leader. In the 5k bike event, Patrick Lawlor was the first male finisher while Clare Ellis led the way for the women. Finn Sweet currently holds the overall season lead in this event. In the 10k bike race, Matt Moody led the way, bolstering his current overall season lead. Caroline Kessler was the first finisher for the women. Generally, traffic is the least of your concerns when getting to Craftsbury. However, visitors coming from the south and east, via Vermont State Route 15 should budget some additional time this month. Week Six Results: Tuesday Night Trail Race

Once again the Tuesday Night Trail Race had a record number of participants with over 80 racers. In the 5k run, Mike Gibson was first across the line with Joanna Johnson finishing first for the women. Ollie Burruss and Alexandra Lawson still hold onto their overall season leads. In the 5k bike event, Avery Ellis was the first finisher while Finn Sweet was the first male finisher. Finn is also the current season leader in the 5k bike event. Matt Moody was first across the line in the 10k bike race and currently holds the overall season lead in that event. Next Tuesday's race will be held at Hosmer Point. See you all there!
