New for 2016 - Summer Bike Club!

Are you between the ages of 8 and 18 and interested in developing or expanding your mountain bike skills? If so, we've got a program for you! The Outdoor Center is excited to expand our community programming opportunities this year by adding our 2016 Summer Bike Club. Aimed at youth ages 8 to 18, Bike Club will focus on developing the skills that will allow you to ride confidently and safely in the woods. Sessions will be led by our GRP skiers and our staff of freshly trained mountain bike instructors.

Feldenkrais DL15 class

Feldenkrais Class

We are back, the Center is open and it’s time for Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement classes to begin again. Join Kimberly for class beginning Tuesday, May 31, from 4:30-5:30 PM. This summer the class will focus on lessons that will enhance your running and walking (and who doesn’t do at least one of those every day)? Classes will focus on helping you replace habitual patterns of movement that are causing pain with new ones that will improve your comfort, ease, and performance. Note: the class will end in plenty of time for those of you running the trail race to register. For further information email Kimberly, or call 586-9152. Cost is $10 for non-members, $5 for members (COC punch cards available) and free to guests and staff.

Intro to Biathlon Kids Camp

COC Biathlon is partnering with Hosmer Point for our summer Intro to Biathlon Camp! For Ages 10-14, this fun overnight weekend camp is for those wanting to learn the exciting sport of biathlon!


Instruction will be led by Craftsbury Outdoor Center’s biathlon coach Sam Dougherty, with help from Olympic Gold Medalist and US Biathlon Coach Algis Shalna, as well as the elite biathletes of the Craftsbury Green Racing Project! The weekend covers shooting safety, marksmanship, physical exercise, and fun!

Cost: $200 per camper, $175 for COC Members

Outdoor CrossFit Summer Series

Starting Thursday, May 19, we're happy to add a new CrossFit Option - outdoors! This new option will be based around the Monkey Gym in the upper field, and represents an additional CrossFit opportunity during the week. 6:30pm, every Thursday thru the summer. As with our other CrossFit classes during the week, the Confluence's instructors Nick Petterssen and Cady Hart will lead us.

This program is open to all levels and available to Craftsbury Members for $5/session. Not a member? Find full details. Craftsbury houseguests are also welcome to attend these classes at no cost. Read more about all our fitness offerings and see the schedule.

Tuesday Night Trail Races Start May 31

Trails are good and dry, it must be time to start the Tuesday Night Trail Races! The first race of the series will be held on May 31 and we will once again rotate between two different five-kilometer courses at the Outdoor Center, with a couple of jaunts up the road to Hosmer Point (HP). Races rotate between two courses at the Outdoor Center, with a few races taking place at Hosmer Point (HP). Bikers and runners alternate courses every week, with bikers contesting one course and runners the other to prevent any lapping. Both courses incorporate some of the old-school singletrack as well as the new flowy singletrack. Course A follows trails closer to the Center while Course B traverses the outer perimeter of the single track.

Date Change! May Wildflower Walks

Update:  the second walk in May will be on Sunday, the 29th.

We're eager to announce what's becoming a rite of spring:  wildflower walks with local field ecologist Eva Dannenberg. Hope you can join us for one or both of these free events!

May 1: 10:00am - 12:00pm. Wildflower walk in the woods near Hosmer Point Camp. On this first wildflower walk of the season, we'll explore the rich northern hardwood forest around Hosmer Point Camp, Lost Nation Road, and the Charley's Cabin and Max's Pond Trails, where beautiful early wildflowers like dutchman's breeches, red trillium, blue cohosh, spring beauties, foamflower, and several types of violets grow. This hike will take us through moderate terrain mostly on trails but off-trail occasionally.

Even with all the natural options for exercise around Craftsbury, some movements are best accomplished in the gym, with the right gear. Sign up to workout, spring to fall with our OpenGym Pass at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. After you have your annual membership, passes are $50/person per season:

Winter- November 1 to April 30
Summer- May 1 to October 31

Must be 14 or older. So, how do you get in on the action?

Step 1 - Make sure your Craftsbury membership is current.

Step 2 - Go to Skireg and sign up for a Gym Pass. This is a requirement to use the gym, even if you get a complimentary annual membership. Gym passes are NOT included in annual membership benefits.
