Front Desk Reservationist

The Craftsbury Outdoor Center is looking for someone to join their office team!

The ideal applicant should have strong organizational and communication skills, the ability to multi-task and adjust to a changing, fast paced environment. Knowledge of Word and Excel are required along with 1 year of customer service experience preferably in the reservations/front desk field.

The position available is from 11am – 7pm in the winter and 12pm – 8pm in the summer consisting of 3 weekdays and 1 weekend day (Saturday).

Forestry Talk about Natural Disturbances on Thursday October 6th

All are welcome to the final 2016 Summer Forestry Lecture on Thursday October 6th at 7:00pm in the Craftsbury Outdoor Center Activity Center. This presentation will focus on natural disturbances which come in many forms, from winter ice damage to summer thunderstorms, and play a critical role in the development of our landscape. Impacts from extreme disturbances can be visible in our forests years later. Come join Steve Long in understanding how these events have shaped our region, particularly the hurricane of '38 which still impacts our area today. Steve is the co-founder and former editor of Northern Woodlands Magazine and author of the new book "Thirty Eight: The Hurricane that Transformed New England. The Galaxy Bookshop will be providing his book for sale and signing at the ...

Singletrack Re-Opens

The north end of our singletrack and nearby ski trails were closed for around a month for some logging - but we're done, have cleaned up the debris, and are ready for business again!

The following trails have been RE-OPENED:
- Peanut
- Leapfrog
- Northern Borders
- The last section of Woodward’s Wheelie
- The north section of the homologated 5k ski loop, from Hoyt’s Wall around and back to Wilbur’s Cut-off.

GRP Biathletes Podium at Slovenian Biathlon Nationals

This past weekend five GRP biathletes raced at Slovenian Biathlon Nationals in Pokljuka, Slovenia. Saturday featured a 7.5k sprint race for the women and a 10k sprint for the men, and was rather wet and rainy. In the senior women's category, Emily Dreissigacker had a strong race finishing 3rd with two standing misses. Hallie Grossman also had a solid race finishing 4th. For the men, Alex Howe had the top GRP result finishing 7th. Ethan Dreissigacker placed 9th with one standing miss and Mike Gibson was 13th. 

Sunday brought drier weather and featured a 10k mass start for women and a 14k mass start for men. Emily made the podium for the second day in a row with another 3rd place finish. She shot well with only two standing misses. Hallie also had a repeat performance finishing 4th. For ...

GRP Biathletes Compete at German Biathlon Championships in Oberhof

Following a multi-week training camp in Germany, Susan Dunklee and Clare Egan (both GRP biathletes and members of the US Biathlon team) competed in two races at German Biathlon Championships. Being a summer championship event, the races took place on rollerskis.

In the 6k sprint race, Susan had a strong race finishing 14th with one standing miss. Clare also had a good performance finishing 23rd with clean shooting. In the 3x6k relay, Susan and Clare joined forces with Canadian biathlete Megan Tandy to create a 3-person US/Canadian relay team. They raced to a solid 6th place finish. Susan scrambled for the team and had one standing miss. She tagged off to Clare who shot clean.

Save the Date- Oktoberfest 2016

Mark your calendars! Oktoberfest weekend (October 8th and 9th this year) is always a great way to kick off the fall season with a smorgasbord of fun racing events and the always popular Oktoberfest local dinner.

On Saturday, the 8th of October racers will start off with the Black River Beatdown, a 10k running race and 10/20 mi bike race on the Center’s singletrack trails.

On Saturday afternoon the Center will host the Craftsbury Checkpoint Challenge, a team adventure race with checkpoints scattered around the Center’s trails. Part orienteering race, part endurance race, this race will test both the brainpower and brawn of each team, as well as their ability to work together.  The challenges are not disclosed ahead of time, so competitors should be prepared for anything!
