Eastern Cups relocated to Craftsbury
19.Feb.2006 As the rest of New England remains gripped in snowlessness, the Outdoor
Center provided a venue for yet another set of races this past weekend. On
Saturday, the Silver Fox Trot TD Banknorth Eastern Cup Classic race was run
on Race Loop, with Sunday bringing the Cheri Walsh Memorial TD Banknorth
Eastern Cup Freestyle competition. Both races had over 150 starters on a
rather cold weekend for the close of the Eastern Cups.
With the close of Sunday's last qualifying race, the NENSA Junior Olympic
teams were named. Seven Craftsbury Nordic Ski Club skiers have qualified to
go to the 2006 US Junior Olympics in Houghton, Michigan. Alex Schulz and
Ethan Dreissigacker qualified in the J2 boys category, and Michael Gibson
was the first alternate.
Kaitlynn Miller qualified in the J2 girls category. Ida Sargent and Emily
Dreissigacker qualified for the girls' J1 category. Elsa Sargent and Hannah
Dreissigacker qualified as OJ girls, but will likely not attend due to a
conflict with college exams.
In addition, CNSC Coach Pepa Miloucheva will be a member of the JO Coaching
Staff.
