New Running Programs for 2012
Last Updated: 19.Apr.2012
Have you noticed all the new running programming this summer? While we've been offering running camps since the early Reagan years, 2012 offers what we think is our biggest selection of program options ever, with three entirely new programs and one program that is only a year old to go with our stalwart camp options.
Our first new option is Running & Yoga from June 17-22. Yoga has always played big role in all our camps, but this offering strengthens that connection with daily yoga options. The yoga curriculum for the week will focus on increasing our range of motion, improving balance, rehabilitating injuries and opening tight places. On the track, trails, and roads, we'll cover a broad range of topics from specific workouts, form/technical considerations, broader training principles, strength, conditioning and lots more - all through the lens of applying our yoga lessons to our running, and vice versa. Read more here.
July 8-12 is our first ever High School Cross Country Camp! During the week, participants will enjoy track training, hill work, drills, fartlek and tempo work as well as a longer runs. Classroom presentations will include nutrition, training physiology, race day skills and more - all led by one of the greats of American running, Lynn Jennings. Find more details here. It's sure to be an excellent boost to your pre-season preparations. Register soon, there's only 30 spots for this one!
For the first time ever, we're offering our running camps into the fall, with two Foliage & Running weekends timed to coincide with the peak of Vermont's striking fall color. While there's never a bad time to visit the Center, autumn is spectacular in the Northeast Kingdom. The Center's trails are ablaze with color, Big Hosmer is warm for swimming, the air is crisp, striking fall color surrounds you, and additional opportunities to explore the region in the afternoons make these camps especially memorable. Find out more here.
In only its second year, Run2Scull, Scull2Run is another fresh face on the Craftsbury running scene. You can use both your running shoes and your oars for some serious cross-training that will take both disciplines to new levels - even if you're starting from ground zero! Row in the mornings, run in the afternoons, while enjoying the great Craftsbury experience. You can find more on this program here.
With all these new options, the trail running series and 15k, plus the traditional programming, it's a great time to be a runner at Craftsbury. Hope to see you this summer!
