Cedar Lodge, Suite 2
Get away to The Craftsbury Outdoor Center for an active vacation or just to relax. The friendly atmosphere will make large groups, families and individuals feel right at home.
Lodging is simple and comfortable. You have the choice of a room with a shared or private bath and double or twin beds. We also offer apartment style accommodations and private lakeside cottages. Free wifi is available in all our accommodations.
The price of your room includes three wholesome, healthy, hearty, all-you-can-eat meals. The food is so popular that it has spawned a cookbook, now in its fifth printing. Meals are served buffet style and include fresh local produce and home-style cooking. A vegetarian option is offered at each meal. With notice, the kitchen can accommodate the following dietary needs: Lactose intolerance, vegan, gluten free and Celiac disease. Guests with food allergies need to be aware that we cannot guarantee the complete absence of any food ingredient in our kitchen. That being said, we will do our best to accommodate non-life threatening food allergies. You must notify the office of any dietary needs/allergies prior to your arrival.
During the summer season join a world class running or sculling camp. Rent a Cannondale mountain bike and ride our trails or take a leisurely tour on the country roads surrounding the Center. Enjoy our summer trails by foot on your own or as part of a guided nature hike. Or get together a game of volleyball, badminton or disc golf. Afterwards relax lakeside. Go for a swim or paddle one of our kayaks or canoes.
In the winter experience our renowned snow conditions, often described as "the best in the east." We offer cross-country ski rentals or bring your own to explore our 85 kilometers of ski trails groomed for classical and skate style skiing. Snowshoeing is a great way to spot animals or their tracks as you travel at a more relaxed pace. You can rent hi-tech lightweight snowshoes at our touring center. Take advantage of our expanded skating pond located next to our touring center where you can find hot chocolate and a warm fire.
Year-round you can take advantage of our weight room with Concept 2 training equipment or pamper yourself with a massage or sauna.
The Center hosts Road Scholar programs which include studies of the natural environment and local wildlife, area history and culture, yoga, music & dance, and cross-country skiing.

Nearby Lake Willoughby is popular with ice climbers in the winter and hikers in the summer. Two colleges provide intellectually stimulating lectures for those looking to learn more about the local environs. Golfing, downhill skiing, fly-fishing and horseback riding are close by. Cultural festivals like the Craftsbury Antiques and Uniques Day in August are frequent. Other popular attractions such as Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory, the Bread and Puppet Museum, Cold Hollow Cider Mill and local artisan's and craftsperson's studios can be visited on a day outing.
From the same passion for the outdoors has sprung our commitment to preserving the natural world. In 2004, the Center joined the Green Hotels in the Green Mountain state program, an environmental technical assistance and business recognition program. The Green Hotel designation reflects a commitment to pollution prevention and environmental management through a set of standards participants must meet.
We added solar panels to boost our hot water heater in the dining hall and Cedar Lodge. Compact flourescent bulbs that last 10 times longer than their traditional counterparts light our halls and rooms. These are just two of the improvements we've made recently to our way of doing business to better protect the environment.
