Kingdom Farm & Food Days Bike Tour
Saturday, August 18, 2012

We look forward to hosting two un-timed dirt-road bike tours on Saturday, August 18. Keep checking back for more details. In the interim, we anticipate that we will again have two route options (check out 2011 routes here: both short and long).

The shorter route will be designed to allow time for more farm visits and a longer version for those interested in seeing more of Vermont's working landscape, at a quicker clip. Both tours will pass local farms and other points of interest along the way, with opportunities for riders to stop and explore. We anticipate that the ride will again culminate at Pete's Greens at Craftsbury Village Farm in the late afternoon.

What Kind of Bicycle Should I Bring? The Tour follows regularly maintained dirt roads that are used by cars. Most cyclists will be most comfortable on mountain, hybrid or cyclocross bikes. People do ride these roads on a road bike, but heavier "classics" wheels and larger tires are recommended. All riders should be prepared for some potholes and occasional loose gravel surfaces.

What other equipment should I Bring To the Ride? A helmet. No one rides without one. Water bottle(s) or camelbak-type hydration pack. Snacks/energy food - we have this pretty well covered, but you might have some preferences for things that we won't be providing. Sunblock. Spare tube, patch kit, tire levers, frame pump. We will have some tools and tubes at the rest stops, but if you get a flat between rest stops, it could be a while before we get to you. Small first aid kit. Possibly rain gear or another wind layer.

Can't wait for August! Hope to see you in 2012 for this fun event!
