Craftsbury Outdoor Center offers excellent hiking opportunities. Many of our cross country ski and snowshoe trails are open for hiking in the summer. You can get trail information and maps at the office or arrange a guided hike or nature walk. There are many species of birds in the area and abundant wildlife.
Trails
We have a core of excellent all season trails at the Center and are continually expanding our trial offerings. The office or bike shop can provide recommendations and maps of available hiking trails.
Nature Walks
Sign up in the office for a guided nature walk with Russell Spring, Sr. or another of our knowledgeable guides. Whether you are interested in the local flora or want to identify area birds and wildlife a guided nature walk will enrich your visit to the Center.
Bird Runs
Bird Runs usually meet at 7:00 AM on Thursday mornings during running camp. All guests are welcome. The runs are about 4 miles with frequent stops along the way to identify birds by ear and sight. In the course of an hour we usually are able to identify 20 to 30 species by their songs and plumage.
Guided Bird Walks
Stop in at the office to arrange a leisurely guided bird walk with Russell Spring, Sr. The area surrounding the Outdoor Center has many excellent habitats for birding here including evergreen and broadleaf forest, lakes, marshes, and open country. Over 100 species have been identified in the area.
