![]() We didn't completely escape Irene's wrath: the wreckage of a ski trail bridge in the Village.

Hurricane Irene02.Sep.2011 It's been quite touching to hear from so many guests, campers, athletes and others wondering how the Center fared in our encounter with Hurricane/Tropical Depression Irene the last weekend of August. The Center was very fortunate. We had braced for the storm and what we assumed would be a long power outage, lots of work on the trails, and struggles with known wet areas around campus. We got ready, watched the radar, and waited - but the fickle winds of the storm veered west, over the Champlain Valley. We got a lot of rain, yes, but we never lost power – not at all - and the damage to the Center was pretty well limited to one of the bridges in the Village (find the blog post here). That was mostly it for us. …which is quite remarkable really. Given how some communities were hit, we were very fortunate. |
