Deer of North America Event

Check out this great event with Keeping Track's Susan Morse at Hazen Union High School, on Monday, December 5 from 7-9pm to learn fascinating information about whitetail deer, mule deer, moose, elk and caribou - including the latest research on rubs and scrapes. Ms. Morse is highly regarded as an expert in natural history and tracking, with more than thirty-five years experience monitoring wildlife and interpreting wildlife habitat use. Her research has focused on cougar, bobcat, black bear, and Canada lynx. Through this presentation, the audience will travel with Susan throughout the northeast, the Rocky Mountain west and arctic Canada as she films and hunts the magnificent members of the North American deer family.

The evening is hosted by the local chapter of the Staying Connected Initiative, a multi-agency project which studies and preserves important wildlife corridors from New York to Maine and Massachusetts to Quebec. Large animals like the deer family provide a great example of the importance of the sort of habitat connectivity Staying Connected strives to achieve and a broader theme of the night's discussion.
