Coach wins Mt Washington

01.Jul.2008

The longest day of the year also marks one of the toughest races of the season: the Mt. Washington Road Race. The name belies the toughness of this course, whose only hill is 7.6 miles long with nearly 5,000 feet of vertical. Yikes.

First across the line was Craftsbury's own coach, Eric Blake, for his second win at Mt. Washington in 1:00:39. The race this year served as the U.S. national mountain running championship and as the prime selection race for the Teva U.S. Mountain Running Team that will compete in the World Mountain Trophy race in Switzerland in September, so Eric will be headed across the pond for more fun in the Alps this fall. Craftsbury Coach Brett Ely also competed, finishing just outside the top 20 in 23rd as part of the women's race.

There's quite a bit of good coverage to be found. An article, some pictures and full results can be found at their respective links.

Congratulations Eric and Brett!
