Oktoberfest 14: Local Dinner

Celebrate the return of the cooler season Saturday, October 4, 2014 with our Bavarian themed local dinner. You'll enjoy a variety of dishes prepared by the Center's Vermont Fresh Network dining hall team - all with a healthy dollop of local ingredients. Reservations are recommended for this event. If you're staying with us (or competing in Henley on Hosmer), Oktoberfest dinner is included! Oktoberfest 14: Singletrack Shootout Biathlon Race

Test your limits on the Craftsbury Outdoor Center's trails with the 3rd annual Singletrack Shootout Biathlon Race, Saturday, October 4, 2014. Racers can choose between a running or mountain bike race, each with four shooting stages. Registration is online via Skireg, $25/person (including lunch) with discounts for houseguests (FREE!) and Craftsbury members. DOR available for an additional fee. Oktoberfest 14: Checkpoint Challenge

Gather three of your family, friends, team-mates or co-workers and join us Sunday, October 5, for the 2014 Craftsbury Checkpoint Challenge, part of our annual Oktoberfest celebration. 

Starting at 9:30am, teams of four will race from checkpoint to checkpoint on foot, navigating by map. At each stop, teams will be given a new task to complete - or a time penalty to accept if they don't want to take the challenge. 

Registration will be online at Runreg.com or day-of at the Outdoor Center, $25/person (including lunch) with discounts for houseguests (FREE) and Craftsbury members. The week contains all the great activities listed in our other camps, tailored to the goals of the campers - whether marathon runners, ultra runners, general fitness runners or brand new runners. There's also an option to scull on Mon/Tues/Wed via Community Rowing. Last year we had runners of all abilities and experience levels at this week, learned a lot and had a blast. This camp offers a full week instruction. Participants will enjoy track training, hill work, drills, fartlek and tempo work as well as a long run on the most beautiful loop in Vermont. Classroom presentations will include nutrition, training physiology, race day skills and more - all led by one of the greats of American running, Lynn Jennings. Our most popular offering. Come have great fun with the over-40 crowd while learning how to train progressively or simply rejuvenate your love of running. "It's a relaxing Vermont vacation coupled with trail running and specific workouts on hills and the track. Improve your running form, learn how to train intelligently and how to manage injuries. Learning smart nutrition strategies and working on core strength and stability in our circuit training sessions will keep you running healthy with motivation to spare.
