2010 SBTC U23 Candidate Roster

14.May.2010

Craftsbury is pleased to welcome 11 U23 rowers for the first half of our summer Small Boat Training Center (SBTC) programming.

Now in its second year, the Craftsbury SBTC strives to help athletes bridge from collegiate rowing to the US National Team by offering coaching, equipment, excellent facilities, and race support. In addition to athletic development, rowers participate in various projects that contribute to the Center's mission of conservation and sustainability while defraying the costs of program participation.

In the inaugural season, SBTC athletes made both the U23 and Senior National Teams, won the HOCR Open Men's 2x, and had many other highlights along the way. We hope 2010 will be at least as successful.

Athletes that will be joining us for the first several months of summer 2010 (and the boat they will be competing at U23 trials in):

Hank Moore and Ben Johnson, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, straight open pair
Terrence Word and Elliot Skopin, Wesleyan University, also an open pair without
John Graves and Will Kelly, Trinity College (CT), open men’s double
Rebecca and Elizabeth Donald, University of Pennsylvania, open women's double
Jessica Novack and Katie Kroll, University of Iowa, straight open women’s pair
John Hood, Rollins College, open men’s 1x

Several of the athletes are returnees from 2009, with lots of new faces as well. The crews will be arriving in the coming weeks and begin preparation for the group's first objective this summer:  June 22nd for Senior Nationals and U23 World Trials.

Thanks go out to all applicants for our 2010 U23 positions. We received many qualified applicants. We wish them well with their summer plans and hope that we'll have an opportunity in the future to work together.

Candidates interested in the Post Canadian Henley development or NSR III/Worlds' Trials components of the SBTC are encouraged to review the FAQs, download an application and contact Coach Gluckman today.

Welcome 2010 crews - here's to another successful summer!
