SBTC to US U23 Trials

03.Jul.2009

Craftsbury's Small Boat Training Center crews spent today making last preparations for travel to Mercer Lake, NJ for the 2009 Under 23 World Championship Trials, July 6-9. Craftsbury's inaugural SBTC crews will contest the men's 2- and the 1x. The pair without will be rowed by John Graves and Eli Roxby, both whom competed for Trinity College (Hartford, CT), while John Hood, formerly of Rollins College (Winter Park, FL) will be sculling.

Racing in earnest begins on Tuesday the 7th with a time trial for the 1x, with a field of 10 scullers. The 2- faces 5 other crews on their path to represent the US at U23 Worlds - this year in Racice, Czech Republic on the 23-26th of July.

You can follow all the action via Powerhouse Timing.

However, this is not the first competitive opportunity the oarsmen have had this summer. The end of June saw the team travel to US Nationals.

The pair had some tight racing, just missing the final by 0.6 seconds in a tough repechage. John had just joined the team at that event and competed in the time trial for the 1x.

We'd like to wish the team well in their racing. If you're at the regatta, look for the Craftsbury blade design - a new graphic for us. Stop by and say hello to Larry or the rowers.

Best of luck boys!
