GRP Abroad: Sargent Top 30 in Rogla
20.Dec.2011 While the majority of the GRP squad was racing on home turf at the Eastern Cup Openers in Craftsbury, three GRP women were representing the team and the USA and abroad. Headlining last weekend's results was a breakthrough performance by Ida Sargent, who wrapped up a two month tour in Europe in a stint with US Ski Team. After on a strong 38th place finish in the 10km classic event, Ida sneaked into the rounds in the 1.2km skate sprint in Rogla, Slovenia on Sunday where she ultimately finished 5th in her quarterfinal for a 25th place. Congratulations to Ida for scoring the first World Cup points of her career! In Hochfilzen Austria, Susan contested the 3rd weekend of Biathlon World Cup action. In the 7.5km sprint, Dunklee struggled on the range with 7 misses, finishing in 72nd place and missing the cut for the pursuit competition. Susan and Ida both return home from Europe this week after exceptionally strong starts to the season, with both GRP women finishing in the top thirty of the world's best athletes in their respective sports. Closer to home, Hannah Dreissigacker raced in Mount Itasca, MN in the USBA IBU Cup qualification series. Hannah started off the weekend with a bang, taking the top step of the podium in the sprint race by a large margin, and with 2 misses. Dreissigacker unfortunately fell short in the pursuit and mass start races and was unable to replicate her consistent range performance from the sprint in either event. Results: Rogla Hochfilzen Mount Itasca
