Our Staff
Craftsbury Sculling Center coaches include Olympians and former World Champions, as well as coaches of some of the most competitive universities, schools, and clubs from around the world. Heading up the CSC staff are these distinguished coaches:
Norm Graf, Director

A Craftsbury coach for more than 17 years, Norm began rowing in 1940. He rowed with the undefeated Culver Military Academy 8+ in 1943. His rowing career took a hiatus during World War II, but in '48 he returned to the sport as stroke and captain of the undefeated Rutgers University freshmen team. In the late '50s Norm began coaching at Yale. In '67 he became the Head Rowing Coach and Intramural Athletic Director at Trinity College in Connecticut, a position he held for 15 years. Norm was the varsity women's coach at Trinity from '86-'92, and the Men's Associate Head Coach at Wesleyan University from '96-'02, a position he returned to in 2006. While at Trinity, he took seven crews to the Henley Royal Regatta; winning the Ladies' Plate in 1976 and lowering the course record six seconds.
Kevin MacDermott, Senior Associate Director

Kevin joined the Craftsbury coaching staff in 2002 and this is his fourth summer serving as a head coach. Outside of Craftsbury, Kevin coaches freshman and is the recruiting coordinator for Men's Crew at Trinity College in Hartford, CT. Kevin has served as an assistant coach for men's crew at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT, and has coached high school and masters rowers in Hartford and Middletown, CT. He worked for Klinger Engineering in Northampton, MA repairing all makes of composite rowing shells. Kevin started rowing at The Haverford School, went on to row for Northfield Mount Hermon, and as an undergraduate at Wesleyan.
Ric Ricci, Associate Director

Ric has coached rowing for 36 years, including 27 at Craftsbury. He rowed at Trinity College in Connecticut, winning the 2- IRA National Championship in 1972 and '73. In '72 he competed at the U.S. Olympic Trials and the '71 and '73 Henley Royal Regatta. Ric is currently the men's coach at Connecticut College. He coached at Yale and the Blood Street Sculls RC in Old Lyme, Connecticut, was the head women's coach at Rutgers from '86-88, and coached the silver medal-winning pair at the '91 Pan American Games. Ric remains an active competitor in single scull racing.
Pepa Miloucheva, Associate Director

Pepa has been our fleet manager since 1998, in addition to her role teaching stretching and core strengthening. Pepa earned her masters degree at the Sport University in Sofia, Bulgaria in physical education and sports, coaching, and exercise physiology, with a specialization in middle and long distance sports. Pepa is the 1994 World Champion and World Cup event winner in Ski Orienteering. She is the head Coach for the Craftsbury Nordic Ski team, whose juniors are among top US Nationals Nordic skiers. She has been the New England Junior Olympics Coach for the past 6 years.
