Jr. Women's Sculling Camps, 2008

We're presenting two Jr. Women specific camps in 2008:

Due to popular demand, NEW Age range for the first week!

June 22-27, 2008: Performance Sculling for Jr. Women: 13-17. For competitive rowers who are interested in sculling. Applicants must at least have rowed for one year prior to coming to camp. - $970

June 29-July 6, 2008: Jr. Women's Performance Camp: 15-17 - CAMP FULL! For scullers who are looking to improve competitively. - $1360

Both camps stress much of the same fundamentals as our regular camp, with a greater emphasis on competition (tapering, more intervals and pieces, year long planning, etc.) than what our camps generally contain, as well as discussions with more unique content tailored to juniors: nutrition, colleges, long range athletic development, plus lots of fun - exploring the area, as well as cross-training.

As to be expected with a Craftsbury camp, the camp will feature the usual rower to coach ratio of no more than 5 to 1. The camp will include up to three on-water sessions per day with extensive video analysis and individual attention on the water. Emphasis will be placed on ability in the single as that is the primary Craftsbury method, but team boats will be worked with extensively as well.

Sample week:
We must stress the actual schedule followed may diverge from this pattern as our primary concern is the health of the athletes and their ability to handle the workload.

In a previous version, this methodology produced boats that made the finals of every class entered at Jr. Women's Worlds' Trials. We've worked to bring this to a wider audience and foster longer term sculling development with these camps, building for future success in a positive environment with great coaching and role models.
