Thanksgiving Training Week at Craftsbury

Looking for early season snow close to home? While Mother Nature always has the final word, the same team behind our famous ribbon of snow and Mt. Craftsbury will be blowing snow as soon as the weather is seasonably cold in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. We plan on opening November 21, 2014 - the Friday prior to Thanksgiving - with full lodging and meals and available to teams and clubs looking for early season training opportunities on snow with great cross-training amenities too. Craftsbury Opener Ski Race

We’re excited to invite everyone to the Craftsbury Opener this Sunday, November 30. In a new twist this season, we’re making one change to this traditional early season interval start freestyle race:  we’re asking all competitors to keep their wax to low fluoro or hydrocarbon only – no HF, topcoats, powders, or liquids.

We’ve had success doing this for our GRP SpringTour FIS races every March, and thought it’d be a great way to keep this early season test simple, cheap, and low-key while minimizing stress for athletes, coaches, and parents as they prep for the first event of the year. So save your cash and fancy ski prep for later in the year, and come on up for a fun event at Craftsbury!

Event details:
Date – Sunday, November 30, 2014 – BKL kicks things off at 9:00
BKL – 2k – Mass Start Freestyle
U16 and under Jr Boys and Girls – 5k interval start freestyle
Men and Women over 16 – 10k interval start freestyle
Registration – Online - FREE for houseguests, $25 for everyone else - price includes lunch! DOR for another $10.

Remember - Low Fluoro only!

Masters Ski Camp #1

Save the dates:

December 4-7, 2014
December 11-14, 2014

In response to the popularity of last year's Masters' Camp, we'll be offering two sessions of instruction this December. The first camp will be geared more toward newer skiers or those who haven't raced before; the second will be aimed more at the master skier who has been competing and wants to get faster.

Participants will get three days on snow (four if you get to campus early enough on Thursday) full of instruction. Coaching staff for the camps are being finalized but will include NENSA's Janice Sibilia, Gunstock's Nina Gavrylyuk, Craftsbury GRP's Pepa Miloucheva, GRP athletes, Craftsbury coaches and others. The curriculum consists of technique drills, longer base-building skis, video review to reinforce technical points, flexibility and yoga, plus lots of presentations by the coaching staff on a range of topics including strength, program personalization, and nutrition. The weekend won't be all work though: there'll be plenty of time for relaxing with your fellow campers and staff, enjoying sumptuous meals in our Vermont Fresh Network Dining Hall (included in the full price camp), trying some biathlon, gear demo opportunities, and free-skiing.

Either camp will cost $450 for campers staying overnight, or $250 for day users - NENSA and Craftsbury members can take $50 off the registration fees.

You can find more information on the webpage, or head right on over to registration at Skireg.com.
