Here it comes! The event that the Vermont Chamber of Commerce has named one of the ten best events in Vermont five of the past seven years is now OPEN for registration! Read on for more details of the event, but don't delay to register. There's a limit of 1000 entrants and the event will fill faster than usual, thanks to the National Masters' Championships scoring the Marathon as their distance event.
Marathon Marathon Marathon
The 29th annual TD Bank Craftsbury Marathon will take place on Saturday January 30, 2010. Registration is now open - sign up now. Much of the event remains the same:
- 25 or 50k classic technique races
- 25k Touring option with fabulous food offerings
- Great volunteer opportunities to receive a free annual membership or to earn your non-profit some money.
Some things have changed:
- Slightly different course - still a loop with a hub of activity at the Center itself, but no time on the lakes this year
- Exciting night sprints Friday before the Marathon - the $1000 Dash for Cash
- Wave starts based age and gender for a less congested opening
But they all add up to another exciting year in Craftsbury! There's tons more information, FAQs - even a training plan to get you ready for the big day at our website. Read more and sign up today.
National Masters Championships
Unique this year at the Marathon is the addition of the National Masters' Championships. For the first time since 2001, this event returns to the east coast. This event serves as the U.S. National Championships for citizen skiers 25 and older (and also as a great race week for other ages as well!). The Championships 2010 consist of a 10k freestyle event on Thursday and the 25 or 50k classical technique marathon on Saturday - as well as fun social opportunities as well. We're honored to be hosting the event this year and hope you'll join us. Find out more.
Dash for Cash
An exciting new event for the Craftsbury Marathon/National Masters Championships weekend is the 200m freestyle sprints on the Common - the $1000 Dash for Cash. The event is open to all skiers, only costs $5 ($10 day of race) and you have the opportunity to show off your sprint speed under the lights on the Common - maybe even take home some money! Get all the details.
Annual Membership at Craftsbury
Q - What costs between $25 and $100, gets you a year's worth of trail access, FREE member events, access to programming, and much more?
A - An annual membership to Craftsbury!
Even if one puts aside all the other value, just the skiing alone is a great bargain: 85k of PistenBully groomed trails (and we've just purchased another one for even better coverage) and some of the best, most consistent snow in the east. Come train on the trails that you'll be racing on in January. Go here for the full scoop.
More to come ...
We're working on even more exciting events to come in support of the Marathon - as well as other great ski events for winter '09-'10. We'll be rolling them out in the lead up to the marathon, so keep watching your inbox and our website for more details.
Hope to see you on the starting line in January.
