Evening with Bernd Heinrich
05.Mar.2010 On Saturday, March 13th, join us for an evening with Bernd Heinrich. Heinrich is an emeritus biology professor at the University of Vermont, where he studies animals' physiological and behavioral adaptations to their environments, as well as social organization and cognition. Heinrich also happens to be one of the country's more legendary ultrarunners, and nobody has eclipsed the 100 mile, 100 kilometer, and 12-hour American track records that he set more than 25 years ago. His observations about the intersection of his physiological research - for instance, the natural history aspect of persistence hunting - and the joy of running are always fascinating. Heinrich is the author of several books including Why We Run.
Heinrich will speak at 7 p.m. in the dining hall. A limited number of spots are available for dinner at 5:30; please call the Center (802-586-7767) to make a reservation. Hope you can join us.
