2008 Spring Fling Results09.Mar.2008 Over 127 racers braved the winter weather rain, slush and ice to participate in the Craftsbury Spring Fling ski races this past Saturday. There was about an hour rain shower during the race but heavy rains did not commence until after the awards ceremony. In the 30 km event, Ian Case slipped away from Marc Gilberston in the final kilometers. Both are from Hyde Park, Vermont. Many college ski racers from Harvard, St. Lawrence, Middlebury, and UVM filled out many top places. In the 15 km, Liz Stephen of East Montpelier beat out the Craftsbury Marathon female winner, Carina Hamel. Ms. Stephen recently won a bronze medal at the U23 (under 23) Worlds Competition in Italy. Thirty-two children ages 3 to 13 skied in the lollypop, 2 km or 4 km events.
