This Weekend: Winter Triathlon!
Last Updated: 03.Jan.2012
Craftsbury groomer and triathlete extraordinaire, Keith Woodward is making lemonade from meteorological lemons. He is organizing a low-key winter triathlon for this Sunday, January 8, at 11am.
Long Course (in order of event):
Short course is half that distance for each discipline. Both courses start and finish on the lower soccer field behind Cedar (transition is there too).
Registration is DOR only, starting at 9:30am (location TBD). Entry is FREE for Craftsbury members, $5 for non-members (both must sign a waiver available that morning).
Helmets are mandatory during the bike leg, studded tires are advisable, studded/Yaktrax'd shoes aren't a bad idea either - but they aren't a necessity at this point at least.
Break out the fast race skis though - the 3k loop has plenty of coverage! Courses will NOT be closed, so be extra respectful when approaching others on the trails.
What will those courses be? Stay tuned, but roughly speaking, the run will start on the lower field, head past the TC, around Duck Pond and part of Murphy's. Ditto for the bike leg - just do it twice. The ski leg will be the same as for the Craftsbury Classic (a modified Lemon's Haunt to yield 3k/lap).
More details to come this week (watch the website), but whether you're racing or just seeking a fun cross-training session, hope we'll see you this weekend!
