Snowmaking from afar

On a frosty early morning ride this Tuesday, I looked up from the Creek road to see this:

Fire?

Fire?

My cold-addled brain quickly scanned the horizon, trying to locate landmarks trying to determine what that plume was coming from. Where's Elinor's? Where's HP? Where's the Center? Did something go wrong?Mercifully logic soon caught up to my racing, semi-frozen brain:  I was seeing what the snowstorm on the lower soccer field looked like at a 1-2 mile remove across the valley. Whew!

A pretty impressive weather system, whether viewed from afar or up close like the pic below. One has to imagine the snowmakers are working on a way of capturing more of that overshot though!

The sun rises on another day’s snow-making operation.
