Last Updated: 17.Jan.2018

Lots of racing this past weekend for the GRP biathlon crew with members competing at the IBU Cup, the World Cup, and the NorAm.

IBU Cup:

At the IBU Cup sprint hosted in Arber, Germany, Emily Dreissigacker raced to a personal-best 5th place finish with clean shooting. This marks her first IBU Cup flower ceremony.

World Cup:

Meanwhile, Clare Egan and Susan Dunklee raced the 5th World Cup of the season in Rhupolding, Germany. In the individual race, Susan placed 27th with three misses and one clean stage while Clare finished 57th also with three misses and 2 clean stages. In the women’s 4x6k relay Clare and Susan were joined by Emily (who made the trek over from Arber) and their USBA teammate Joanne Reid. Susan scrambled for the team who tagged off the Clare who in turn tagged off to Emily. Susan shot clean using a total of four spares while Clare shot clean only using two spares in prone and none in standing. The team finished 17th overall with a total of 2 penalty laps and 13 spares. Stay tuned for World Cup 6 which takes place next weekend in Antholz, Italy.

NorAm:

On the North American continent Hallie Grossman, Mike Gibson, and Alex Howe braved a heavy snowstorm to compete in the Valcartier NorAm in Quebec. Despite the heavy snowfall all three athletes raced their way onto the podium. In the women’s race, Hallie finished 3rd with four misses while on the men’s side Alex won the race with Mike in second. Both men had three misses. Unfortunately due to temperatures below the legal limit, the second race of the weekend was cancelled. Alex is now headed over to Europe to compete at IBU Open European Championship in Ridnaun, Italy.
