Summer Mountain Bike Program

2018 Mountain Bike Program Overview

We are happy to announce that we will be bringing back our beloved Summer Bike Club mountain bike program, Wednesdays from 4:00pm to 5:30pm throughout the summer. This year the program will begin on June 20th and conclude August 22nd, 2018. The program, aimed at developing mountain bike skills in children aged 8 to 18, will have 50 (!) slots this year. It will again be spearheaded by Ollie Burruss, with assistance from the junior coaching staff, the Green Racing Project athletes, and more skilled riders from the area. Participants must be able to competently ride a bicycle and have interest in riding singletrack trails.

Program cost will again be $100. Rental bikes will be available to participants for $50 up front or $7 per session. Rentals will again be reserved online via our Square store (coming soon for summer 2018).

Registration on BikeReg.com will open on Monday, April 16 at 10:00am.

Participants must be prior members of the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. Memberships are free for Craftsbury and Albany residents. For more information on membership, go here.

If you plan on bringing a bike instead of renting one, that's great! But we ask that you please get your bike checked out by one of the local shops. A form is available at the registration link for the mechanic to sign off. This is for your child's safety and enjoyment. PowerPlay Sports in Morrisville has offered to do safety checks free of charge and a tune-up at Chuck's Bikes just around the corner in Morrisville is only $30!

Equipment

All participants need to have the following: running/athletic shoes, active outdoor clothing, a waterbottle, a bike helmet, and a safe and functional mountain bike. Don't have a bike or helmet? We will be offer low-priced bike rentals to those participating in the bike program. Participants can either rent a bike for the duration of the program ($50) or per session ($7). All bike rentals include helmets. Please note that renting a bike for the full program does not guarantee use of the same bike every time, nor does it allow participants to take bikes home or use them during non-practice times.

Scholarship support is available for a limited number of participants. Please contact Ollie for more information.
