Summer Mountain Bike Program

Mountain Bike Program Overview

Back by popular demand for 2017, it's Summer Bike Club for area youth ages 8-16, presented by the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. Running Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:30pm (note the new day and time for 2017), beginning June 21 and concluding August 23, Bike Club will focus on learning and honing mountain bike skills in a safe, supportive environment.

Our crew of trained instructors and athlete volunteers (from our Green Racing Project professional squad) will lead skills sessions and rides for a wide variety of ability. No previous mountain bike experience is necessary, but participants must be able to competently and safely ride a bicycle. Helmets are absolutely mandatory (if you need a helmet, please contact Ollie)

Participants must be prior members of the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. Memberships are free for Craftsbury and Albany residents. For more information on membership, go here.

Rental bikes from our fleet are available. If your child needs a rental bike, please contact Ollie

If you plan on bringing a bike instead of renting one, that's great! But we ask that you please get your bike checked out by one of the local shops. A form is available below for the mechanic to sign off. This is for your child's safety and enjoyment. PowerPlay Sports in Morrisville has offered to do safety checks free of charge and a tune-up at Chuck's Bikes just around the corner in Morrisville is only $30!

Registration is online at BikeReg and opens at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 5th, 2017. Registration is limited to 30 participants due to staffing and equipment constraints.

All participants need to have the following: running/athletic shoes, active outdoor clothing, a waterbottle, a bike helmet, and a safe and functional mountain bike. Don't have a bike or helmet? We will be offer low-priced bike rentals to those participating in the bike program. Participants can either rent a bike for the duration of the program ($50) or per session ($5). All bike rentals include helmets. Please note that renting a bike for the full program does not guarantee use of the same bike every time, nor does it allow participants to take bikes home or use them during non-practice times. Our online bike rental system will be up and running shortly--please check back soon.

Scholarship support is available for a limited number of participants. Please contact Ollie for more information.
