Community Open House

As part of our Fall Fest Weekend celebration, we want to invite all of Craftsbury and the greater community to the Outdoor Center on Saturday afternoon, October 6, 2018, for our second annual Community Open House. We'll be providing free clinics in biathlon, as well as mini mountain bike clinics with free rentals, and cheese and cider tastings. There will be clinics going on all day, so if you stop by any time between 1-4 pm, you're sure to catch an opportunity for a cool clinic for you or your kids.

During our Open House, we are excited to host the Friends of Great Hosmer Paddling Event on Great Hosmer Pond starting at 2 pm. Participants should bring watercraft of their choosing, a paddle and PFD - canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and more. The Center will also provide a limited number of recreational watercraft, as well as electric launches for safety. There will be a timed 5K course for canoe, kayak, and SUP classes, an open touring class and tours of the pond led by the Friends. Registration starts at 2:00 and the race at 3:00. It’s a free event, just show up and be ready to paddle!

As part of the Open House, from 2:30-6:30 pm, the Craftsbury Nordic Ski Club (our junior ski program) will be hosting a silent auction to benefit the Kathy Wright Memorial Scholarship Fund. The fund helps make outdoor sports like cross country skiing and mountain biking accessible to families in northern Vermont by helping kids get involved in the sport at an affordable rate and helping them get to Junior Nationals and elite training camps.
