2018 Summer Ski Programming

In addition to our popular summer BKL camps and junior ski camps, we offer dryland training programs for youth skiers ages 8 and up. Our sessions for younger kids focus primarily on being active, having fun, and working on fundamentals. As skiers move up through our programs, they embark on more focused training, including rollerskiing, running, strength, and more. Programs are generally organized by age, but final selection/placement will depend on participants' needs and coaches' discretion. Not sure where you might fit in? Contact our coaching staff. Want to participate but worried about affording the program fee? Apply for a scholarship here. Don't forget that Craftsbury Outdoor Center Membership is a prerequisite for registering in our summer training programs.

BKL Development

BKL devo

Our BKL Development program is meant for kids ages 8-12 who are enthusiastic about being active and outside. The program costs $200 and meets twice per week, starting in June and running through October. In the summer, practices will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00pm to 5:15pm. When school starts again in the fall, practices will switch to Wednesdays and Fridays at 4:00pm. This program is led by coaches Anna Schulz, Audrey Mangan, Jake Barton, and Ollie Burruss with help from GRP members. Activities will include running, hill bounding, rollerskiing, biking, strength, and canoeing, with a healthy mix of fun and games!

Participants are required to have the following: current Craftsbury Outdoor Center Membership; running shoes and active clothing; and ideally, a mountain bike and helmet (though not having those should not discourage registration as we have a limited number of bikes for use--contact Anna if you anticipate needing to rent a bike). Rollerskis are not required: they are used infrequently by this group and are provided by the Outdoor Center.

This training group is our elite training program primarily for individuals who are pursuing post-collegiate racing at the highest levels. More information is available on the GRP website

Part of our mission is to make lifelong sport accessible to one and all. As such, we have a scholarship program to support kids who may not otherwise be able to participate in our programs. We also offer assistance to families in our programs whose children have qualified for and are traveling to major skiing competitions. You can complete a scholarship application here. Feel free to contact junior coach Anna Schulz (anna.schulz@craftsbury.com) with questions about scholarships.
