Today: The last day of trials competition. A sprint - with a few course changes because of the new snow.

The GRP goes 1-2! After two previous 2nd place finishes, Jackie Garso closed out the competition weekend standing atop the podium. Missing only 1 target, she finished in a time of 26:20. Biathlon rookie, Margie Freed, finished 2nd, 30 seconds back with some seriously fast skiing. Lucy Hochschartner (NYSEF) placed 3rd, just one second behind Freed.

On the men’s side, Vincent Bonacci (Crosscut) rounded out an impressive race series, winning in a time of 30:17. GRP U23 and UVM skier Bjorn Westervelt placed 2nd, 26 seconds back from Bonacci with the same number of misses. Nikolas Burkhart (Crosscut) was third.

Top athletes will head to Slovakia after the new year for IBU Cup racing with more spots opening up for Open European Championships, hosted by Switzerland, in late January. Team naming is forthcoming.

A big thank you goes out to all the volunteers, race organizers, and grooming staff for making these races happen.
