Best of times, worst of times

Sooner or later, even the burly PistenBullies need some love. This is the broken belt that left Keith with a hike yesterday.

While the groomer's lot has its perks, it's not without it's more annoying moments too. Example:  when the tracks on the machine break. Not only do you have to figure out a way back home, you have to fix it.

The work ahead.

480 bolts/belt...all done by hand.

Today, that means replacing track belts - unbolting 480 bolts from the broken belt, and putting the tracks and the bolts in to the new bolts. Then you do the other side.

How do the groomers ease the tedium? Where's the "best" from the title? Well, they're also testing a new, bigger toy this week:  a PB Edge, with a BIG 4.2m tiller. The grooming team loves its work and is always working to push the edge of what we can do. New tools are just one part of it. Keep your eyes peeled - you may see a new 'Bully tilling stuff up in '13-14!
