Training week of 12/29
[Back to the Club Updates page]
EVERYONE:
The training plan is here and below. Please fill out the attendance form at the start of each week.
The Race for Warmth is on Saturday! This is a great opportunity to do a ski race (maybe even your first one!) and also raise $ for a great cause. More info here.
BRR! Most practices will probably be in the single digits this week. Dress appropriately. This includes mittens and hats instead of gloves and headbands.
Sunday: given the staff resources/energy going into the race, some groups won’t have practices on Sunday (instead we want to see a lot of you on Saturday!), so be sure to check the schedule.
Races + coaches all over: it’s the time of the year when coaches scatter to support junior/GRP skiers all over the place, so please remember to message the group email addresses (bkl@craftsbury, etc) instead of any one person with questions to improve your odds of getting a response.
JUNIORS:
We’ve got some morning practices this week because it’s nice to practice in the daylight when we can.
Eastern Cup team travel invoices will go out sometime in the next week or two when we get around to it. We’ll nudge you when we send them out as sometimes the emails go to spam.
Looking ahead at some dates:
Race for Warmth is at COC 1/3
Eastern Cup #2 is at Quarry Road 1/17 - 1/18
Reminder: toggle to the “25-26 year” tab at the bottom of the training plan to get a better sense of what’s ahead this winter.
U14s:
We’ve got some morning practices this week because it’s nice to practice in the daylight when we can. But if it doesn’t work with your schedule—especially if you have siblings in BKL—you’re also welcome to crash afternoon BKL practice Tues/Thurs as long as you give us a heads up on attendance.
BKL (because you’re still in BKL!) race dates to put on your calendars include:
BKL:
Reminder that BKL won’t happen on the following days due to holidays and races:
Sunday, 1/4: we’re putting all our energy into the race the day prior (more info linked below) AND a lot of our coaching staff will be gone at US Nationals (also Olympic Trials)
Sunday, February 1 (But! there will be BKL options at the Craftsbury marathon this weekend suitable for older/more experienced BKL skiers + parent chaperones)
Sunday, February 8 (But! There will be a bunch of high-level racing to watch all weekend AND a BKL race late afternoon on Sat 2/7)
BKL race dates to put on your calendars include:
