Getting to Craftsbury


Craftsbury Center is in the Northeastern region of Vermont, not far south of the Canadian border. One has several options for getting to Craftsbury:

However you choose to arrive, Craftsbury urges its clients to consider using a carbon offset to cover their carbon footprint from traveling to the Center. Many services are available, but they all represent efforts to preserve the natural world and clean air that active, outdoors-oriented lifestyles depend on. These are some of the most popular:

Air

Burlington International Airport (BTV) is the closest airport, 90 minutes away. Click thru for info on shuttle service and taxis.
Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) is about 2.5 hours away. Travel in or to Canada requires a passport.
Manchester (NH) Regional Airport (MHT) is about 3 hours away.
Boston's Logan International (BOS) is about 4 hours away.
And for private pilots, Morrisville-Stowe State Airport (MVL) will be the closest option, 20 minutes away.

Rail

The nearest Amtrak station is Waterbury - Stowe (WAB), a little under an hour from here. See below for taxi service from the station.

Bus Service

The closest terminal would be in Montpelier (about an hour away), operated by Greyhound. Service is also available in Burlington. See below for taxi service from the station.

Transportation Service from transit terminals

The Center recommends Hometown Rides at (802) 230-7641. In addition to standard transportation rates available year-round, Hometown Rides has arranged 2 summer shuttles to and from the airport on Friday and Sunday at a reduced rate, so please contact them directly to make all the arrangements and find the most current information. All pick ups and drop offs at Craftsbury Outdoor Center are at the main office. Travel time to and from Burlington, VT can take up to 2 hours travel time, plan accordingly.

Driving Directions

While Internet or GPS based mapping systems do a great job to direct one to the general Craftsbury area, they often need a little bit of help to get to Craftsbury Outdoor Center. A PDF version of the maps below is also available.

Getting all the way to the Center

  • Click on this link to get you with 3 miles of the Center - Post Rd. & North Craftsbury Road, Craftsbury, VT 05827

  • Bear right off the pavement and follow the "Craftsbury Outdoor Center" signs (staying on Mill Village Road).

  • Continue winding on the dirt road for just under 1.25 miles and turn right onto Lost Nation Road.

  • The Outdoor Center's office is located approximately 0.6 miles on the left. You will see a large Craftsbury Outdoor Center sign. The office is in the white farmhouse.
