The 2019-2020 Winter Tuesday Night Race Series wrapped up this week with a 5k classic mass start that saw 23 racers brave slightly-better-than-forecasted weather and klister conditions to stride the series out to a conclusion. Stephen Wright took the top spot, finishing just over 30 seconds ahead of second-place Adrian Owens. Mark Isselhardt was third. Rose Wilson strode to first in the women’s field; she was followed by Olivia Serrano in second and Trina Hosmer in third. Full results for TNR #13 can be found here.

Following the race, participants gathered for the post-series celebration, enjoying food and the announcement of the series-long awards. Awards were given out to those racers who had participated in at least six of the series’ thirteen races and had accumulated the highest points total in their age category. The overall winners in the male and female categories were awarded with a choice between two prizes: a complimentary entry in the Craftsbury Marathon, or a complimentary annual membership to Craftsbury.

Both overall winners only clinched their crowns with their performances in the final race: Stephen Wright’s win secured him the overall lead in the series, while Trina Hosmer’s podium performance (one of many this season) did the same. Both repeated their overall series wins from last year. Congratulations to Trina, Steve, and the rest of the age category winners - final series standings can be viewed here.

A couple more notes to wrap up this year’s series: when planning the season in November, we scheduled thirteen races, thinking at least one would have to be canceled due to conditions. We were delighted to be able to run a race all thirteen Tuesdays of the season, and we were glad to host 126 individual racers over the course of the season. Many thanks are in order: to all who participated, to Eric Remick/Hardwick Trails and the Prevot family for hosting our destination races, to the various COC staff and athletes who helped put on the race each week, and to Keith Woodward for grooming and marking the courses and each Tuesday. We look forward to resuming Tuesday Night Racing via foot/bicycle when summer comes, and of course for next winter’s season of TNR.
