Racers lining up for the paired interval start

Update for 3/10 TNR: Course has been shortened to a 5k. Technique is still classic. Klister up!

Tuesday Night Racing went on the road this week to the Prevot family’s trailsystem in East Hardwick, VT, where racers started two at a time in a paired interval start to take on a freestyle 7.8k. Thirty-two skiers turned out on a beautiful evening to check out the challenging course, with Ollie Burrus taking a commanding win. Ollie skied 1:33 faster than the second-place finisher, passing twenty-four competitors along the way. Incidentally, second place went to Ollie’s pair during the interval start, Cormac Leahy. Makail Tipton finished in third.

The women’s race was won by Linda Ramsdell, covering the course just three seconds faster than second-place finisher Kathy Swanson. Gina Campoli followed up in third place. Check out the full results here, and join us in our gratitude to Roger and Margie Prevot for hosting!

Next week is the final race of Winter 2019-2020 Tuesday Night Race Series. There are several pieces of information to go with this, so please read carefully!

First, the race will be a 10k classic mass start via Sam’s/Ruthie’s. Following the conclusion of racing, there will be a celebration in the Activity Center with awards and food - think chili, cornbread, and desserts! The race organizers will need some time to tabulate final results before awards can be announced, so please plan to mingle and enjoy the food while we do so.

On the topic of awards: each race* you’ve completed this season has earned you points towards your overall series standing. We will award grand prizes to the male and female racers who finish the series at the top of the standings. We will also offer age-group awards to the winners of each category. In order to be eligible for a prize, you must have participated in at least six of the thirteen races we’ve held this season. Though there were no points awarded for the team sprint results, participation in that race will count towards your total races completed. COC staff and athletes are not eligible for prizes. *Once you’ve completed more than nine races, only your top nine results will contribute points.

Check out your points total and ranking on the series standings found here. If you’re in the running for a prize - or just need that one more race to get there - we strongly encourage you to join us next week! Remember that team sprint participation is not accounted for on these standings, and remember also that the points totals will only reflect your nine best performances.

We hope to see you next week, and we have one final request: please RSVP to tnr@craftsbury.com if you (and any additional family members) plan to attend the post-race celebration; the kitchen could use a headcount for food preparation! Thank you in advance.
