The 2022 L.L. Bean U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships kicked off today with the freestyle sprint. After the dust settled, the Green Racing Project’s Caitlin Patterson had won her 10th XC National championship, opening her case for international selection as compellingly as one can.

Patterson opened the day with a 9th in the qualifier, leading the GRP and COC affiliated Women:
5th - Lina Sutro, former U23 training partner
19th - Callie Young, Craftsbury JR alum
24th - Alex Lawson, GRP

Caitlin finished second in the quarters and semis to Mariel Pulles of the University of Alaska, before bringing home the win in the finals on the tactical course.

On the men’s side, no GRP men made the heats, but a number of Craftsbury JR alums and U23 Training partners made it in:
17th - Jack Young, Craftsbury JR alum
22nd - Finn Sweet, Craftsbury JR alum/U23 training partner

None of the local heroes advanced beyond the quarters. Find full results.
