2026 Sculling Interns

As spring graciously descends upon the Northeast Kingdom, we eagerly anticipate the beginning of our sculling camps along with the arrival of our sculling interns. The sculling internship program offers high school and college students an opportunity to help out at sculling camps while working on their own rowing skills.

Please help us welcome this year’s group:

Sofia Stafford — May 7-22:
Sofia is a sculler from Riverside Boat Club in Boston, MA. She rowed and raced for 12 years at South Jersey Rowing Club and Northeastern University, and now coaches the Cooper River Rowing Club. Outside of rowing, Sofia pursues all things that spark joy, including eating, sewing, hiking, and her work as a film and game composer!

Tegan Tsaousis — May 15-June 5:
Tegan is a health sciences undergrad student based in Raleigh, North Carolina. When she’s not studying, she trains and competes with Raleigh Rowing Center, and volunteers with their Learn to Row program, helping newcomers find their footing on the water. Outside of rowing and studying, Tegan enjoys spending time with her dogs at the park, attending hockey games, and gardening.

Will Post — June 5–July 3:
Will recently graduated from the Taft School, where he rowed and ran cross-country for three years. He will be rowing at Bates College next year. Will first got exposed to sculling in 2022 at Craftsbury. Since then, he returned in 2024 and interned in 2025. Outside of rowing, Will enjoys any and all outdoor activities, such as fishing, hiking, camping, and skiing.

Anthony Mateos — June 5–19
Hello, my name is Anthony Mateos is from Evanston, Illinois, and began rowing through my high school's program as a freshman. Some of my other hobbies include hiking, photography, and running. I've attended Craftsbury as a camper alongside "North Canal Community Rowing" (my town's local youth rowing organization) a few years ago. I am very excited to return and run into new and old faces while helping out in any way I can as an intern.

Owen Rodgers — June 7-12
Hi, I’m Owen! I’m from Miami Shores, Florida and I’m super excited to be rowing this summer. I rowed for Miami Beach Rowing Club in high school and I currently study in London. I’m looking forward to an awesome week at camp!

James Jenni — June 21–July 3:
James Jenni is a rising senior who has been rowing for three years and has become a dedicated sculler, competing in several regattas throughout New England. A local Vermonter, James first rowed at Craftsbury through the Community Row Program in the summer of 2025 and is excited to return this season as an intern helping campers. He enjoys being on the water and looks forward to helping campers feel comfortable and confident in their boats.

Maya Turner — July 7–24
I am a rower from Stockton, California, and a rising junior in college, currently studying biochemistry. In my free time you’ll find me drawing or hitting my next PR in a power clean!

Adina Suchman — July 7-24
Adina is from Brattleboro, Vermont, and is a rising sophomore at Bates College, where she is on the varsity crew team. She learned to row in her sophomore year of high school at The Putney School and has been pretty obsessed ever since. When not rowing, you'll likely find her outside - biking, skiing, or hiking. She’s drawn to good conversation, curious about science, and of course, loves a good sunset. She cannot wait to be back home in Vermont this summer and experience Craftsbury as an intern!

Zion Goche — July 26–August 2
Zion Goche grew up in Los Angeles, where she discovered rowing at the age of 11 through the all-girls non-profit RowLA. She continued rowing throughout middle school and high school, developing both her skills and passion for the sport. After transferring from Santa Monica College, Zion attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she joined the rowing club and took on leadership roles as secretary and later president. Zion has since returned to Los Angeles where she now serves as a Community Outreach Coordinator and novice coach at Row LA. She is honored and excited to participate in the Craftsbury Sculling Camp as an intern.

Julia Veal — July 26–August 7
Julia has 7 years of rowing experience. She rowed with OKC Riversport throughout highschool and currently attends The University at Albany. She is a nursing major there and is the team captain of the D1 Women’s rowing program. She has attended Craftsbury as both camper and intern and is so excited to work this summer!

Eleanor Mercurio — August 9–12
Ellie is a rising senior in high school. She rows for Rockland Rowing. She’s been rowing for almost five years, both sweep and sculling. She’s been involved in US Rowing’s U19 pathway for three years. She is excited to attend the US Rowing U19 Selection Development Camp early this summer and race in the International Rowing Challenge for the United States. She attended a Craftsbury camp last year, and she’s elated to be back as an intern this summer.

Caitlyn Johnson — August 9–21
My name is Caitlyn Johnson! I’ve been rowing for 6 years now, beginning in the summer between 6th and 7th grade. I sweep, scull and occasionally cox, and I love getting to introduce people into this sport and seeing people progress. I’m always happy to lend a hand, feel free to ask me if you need any support or have any questions!

Lily Carr — August 23–September 13
I am a rising sophomore at Stanford University where I am a member of the lightweight women's rowing team. I'm originally from Washington, D.C., where I attended and rowed for Jackson-Reed High School. In my free time, I love to bike and run! I'm very excited to intern at Craftsbury this summer!

Izzy Franconieri — August 31–September 13
I learned how to row at Evanston Township High School as part of their inaugural freshman class. I was able to visit Craftsbury as a camper and learn how to scull via the Larry Gluckman Scholarship in 2024, and then returned last summer as an intern. It’s been incredibly rewarding to help build the Evanston team from the ground up and bring my experiences at Craftsbury back to our squad. I will be a freshman at Northwestern University this fall, and am very excited to row for NU Crew on my home water!
