Collegiate Summer Running Program
We are excited to host a collegiate running program for the summer of 2020! The purpose of this program is to help collegiate runners achieve productive summer training months while also gaining valuable life experience. The program will run mid-June through mid-August.
We are looking for current collegiate runners or recent graduates who demonstrate dedication to the sport through a positive, healthy approach to training and racing. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a special interest in environmental sustainability and the natural world, aligning with the mission of the Outdoor Center. We expect our collegiate runners to represent Craftsbury with integrity, both on campus and off. Community involvement is a core part of this internship, and we are looking for our collegiate runners to do so with enthusiasm. If you are interested in this program, this will come easily - Craftsbury is a hub for good-natured, active outdoor enthusiasts and adventurers!
How it works: The Outdoor Center will provide room & board and full access to Center facilities in exchange for a set number of community work hours each week. Weekly work hours will range from 15-25 hours, depending on the week. Collegiate runners will work closely with Craftsbury Running Director Heidi Caldwell throughout the summer to ensure they get both the training and work hours they need. Many of the work hours will be dedicated to helping with our summer running camps and community running programs. Work hours may include: helping coach a running camp hill workout, shooting & compiling footage of camps, timing our Tuesday Night Race Series, shuttling campers on point-to-point runs, recording visiting runners for video analysis, organizing an obstacle course for high school campers, or leading a workshop on injury prevention for our adult camps.
