The Outdoor Center has a 15-point range and a biathlon program that offers biathletes of all ages an opportunity to experience the sport. Participants in our junior ski program learn to shoot as part of regular practice and there are extra practices offered for kids with a special interest in biathlon. The COC is also home to the Green Racing Project (GRP) biathlon team, members of which compete on the Nor-Am, IBU Cup, and World Cup circuits, as well as at the Olympic Games (the GRP Biathlon team has produced four Olympians). See below for details on biathlon programming for juniors, masters, and GRP.

Masters

We are offering weekly Adult/Masters Sessions on Sunday afternoons. These sessions are for experienced biathletes only. If you are new to the program, please email in advance to confirm you are a good fit. These sessions include some coaching support, use of the range, and use of the rollerloop during the session (as seasonally appropriate). They do not include ammunition or the use of club rifles or equipment. Sessions capped at 15 athletes. In order to take part in either of these, you must sign up below, and have a current Outdoor Center membership (required - this is our equivalent of a trail pass).

Juniors

We offer additional biathlon practices for skiers wishing to hone their skills. Our extra biathlon sessions are currently only for skiers already enrolled in our one of our ski programs. Full details.

GRP

The Green Racing Project (GRP) is the Olympic Development ski, biathlon, and rowing team based out of the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. The GRP biathlon team produces athletes who compete domestically and internationally and who have been very successful at the top level of the sport. There are generally two paths to becoming a GRP biathlete; either previous successful biathlon results or previous successful ski results with the desire to take on the challenge of biathlon. In exchange for coaching, travel support, and room and board, athletes are asked to take on projects that contribute to the mission of the COC. Interested athletes should check out the GRP webpage and contact the biathlon coaching staff at biathlon@craftsbury.com
