Craftsbury Biathlon’s Trip to Valcartier, QC
The Craftsbury Biathlon team was treated to some spectacular winter racing over the February 21st weekend on their trip north to Quebec City to race the Biathlon Regional Cup #3 at the Valcartier Military Base. The athletes, coaches and parents were treated to bluebird days and temps in the twenties! The racing kicked off with a sprint Saturday followed by a pursuit on Sunday.
Craftsbury was represented by a wide range of athletes including some U15s doing their first races shooting without a block, high school athletes competing in between state meets, GRP athlete Tim Cobb, and even master biathlete Scott Thomas made the trip. The wide range of ages and abilities all on one team and improving together is a big part what makes the Craftsbury biathlon community so special.
Weekend highlights included:
A Craftsbury podium sweep in the sprint by Oakley, Bowman, and Hollis
Hazel and Aemilia going first and second on both days of competition
Lillian hitting 9 out 10 for prone in the pursuit
Tim Cobb getting first on both days of competition
Non-racing highlights included:
A porcupine hanging out in a tree by the range during zero
An impromptu football game with a plastic water bottle that broke out during the wait for awards on Sunday
A big thank you to all the parents that helped shuttle rifles and made the weekend a success!
