Training week of 9/7
[Back to the Club Updates page]
EVERYONE:
Attendance form! Please fill this out weekly to help us plan.
Training plan: still here.
Winter programs: we’re working on pulling all of this information together! Updated information for winter 2026-2027 should be posted by mid-September. Registration will open in early October. Don’t worry, we’ll let you know the date/time once we get it sorted out.
JUNIORS:
Please pay for Bethel camp if you haven’t! Let’s set a good precedent for the winter, eh? Link here.
Mandatory fall team meeting: will be on Sunday, November 8th, in the late morning (after practice). This is when we’ll get into some of the nitty gritty details about winter.
Equipment: we’ll send out more info to the whole team soon. But yes, there will still be a “team night” when you can order skis through the club at a discount. Usually late October.
CARBS. Megan made this super awesome visualization of recommended carb intake depending on the type of training day and approximate bodyweight. Check it out!
US Ski & Snowboard membership renewal: the “early pricing” deadline is coming up in October.
Might as well also renew your NENSA membership while you’re at it!

You need some sort of US Ski & Snowboard license if you want to race in any Eastern Cups. Otherwise you don’t really need one.
Looking ahead to Sunday 9/20: no organized junior/U14 practices today. Most of you could probably benefit from a Sunday off at this point, but if you don't have a lot of racing built into your fall, we recommend chcekcing out the Trapps Cabin Trail Races, which are a fundraiser for Green Mountain Adaptive. More info here.
Bethel Camp squad: Ack, please get on this!
OMG Eastern Cups. These are a ways off still but will come up fast. We will likely have more people wanting to do team travel than we have capacity for (we can typically take 20-22). Priority will be given to those who have shown the most commitment to training this summer and fall! More details to come, but here are our tentative lodging plans to this point for any families who want to be nearby:
EC #1 @ Holderness: Frontenac Lodge (where we stayed last year) in Plymouth; no space for additional people but close to other lodging options
EC #2 @ Quarry Rd: Best Western Waterville (usual hotel; has competitive rates and lots of rooms; plenty of room for families to stay there too)
EC #3 @ Lake Placid: 2 houses on Hurricane Mtn Rd in Keene (no room for additional people)
EC #4 @ Oak Hill: Pierce’s Inn (where we stayed last year) in Etna; no space for additional people.
U14s:
Talk to us with questions about winter. The shift from BKL to U14 can feel like a lot. Also… you’re still technically BKL, and should plan to participate in BKL races, until you wrap up 8th grade!

BKL:
Attendance form? Please? Please!
Practices will continue happening on Thursday afternoons into the fall.
MASTERS/ADULTS:
Business as usual for y’all this week.
BIATHLETES:
Schedule: normal this week.
Race Opportunities:
Singletrack Shootout #2 is Oct 4th. Sign up early- it may fill.
Selecting races for the winter: we want Jrs to be more STRATEGIC in picking race starts this year. We’ll be chatting with biathlon families soon.
Wisconsin Jr Nationals Dec 27-31. Read preliminary information here. Before finalizing our roster for this trip we want everyone to go through the race season planning google doc (coming soon).
CanAm Eastern Cups (formerly know as Eastern Regional Cups) schedule here. We’ll likely send coaches to #1, #2 & #4. Suitable for most U14/Jrs.
Lake Placid rollerski TT with National Team on Friday, Sept 11. Suitable for U19 level racers who are extremely comfortable on rollerskis (Lake Placid is technical!). Talk to us.
Weekly Dryfire ideas
3-4 days per week if you own your own rifle at home.
Standing Approach
First 2 min hold:
Aim and shoot on one target. Try to use your bolting to land you right back on the black.
Second 2 min hold:
Pick your approach point. Aim and shoot at one single target. After each shot, reset so you are try just off the black and come onto target with the SAME pattern every time.
Third and fourth 2 min holds
Same thing as above, but now move 5-across. Focus on a consistent approach onto the black.
Okay, this isn’t a current photo, but it’s a good one. Do you recognize everyone??
