Training week of 8/31

[Back to the Club Updates page]

EVERYONE:

JUNIORS:

  • LP rollerski weekend: at this point we are not planning to provide team travel/coach support for this (Sept 12-13). It’s the same weekend as the VTYC double header mountain bike races in Burke, so a number of you and a number of coaches will be at that. Reach out to coaches if you need more info about the LP rollerski races. More info here.

  • Bethel Camp squad: please pay the trip fee promptly (Audrey dropped it in Slack) to save us time chasing you down!

  • OMG Eastern Cups. These are a ways off still but will come up fast. We will likely have more people wanting to do team travel than we have capacity for (we can typically take 20-22). Priority will be given to those who have shown the most commitment to training this summer and fall! More details to come, but here are our tentative lodging plans to this point for any families who want to be nearby:

    • EC #1 @ Holderness: Frontenac Lodge (where we stayed last year) in Plymouth; no space for additional people but close to other lodging options

    • EC #2 @ Quarry Rd: Best Western Waterville (usual hotel; has competitive rates and lots of rooms)

    • EC #3 @ Lake Placid: 2 houses on Hurricane Mtn Rd in Keene

    • EC #4 @ Oak Hill: Pierce’s Inn (where we stayed last year) in Etna; no space for additional people.

U14s:

  • Thanks for being nimble this morning as we switched your plans. We figured with your small group you’d have more fun with the juniors! Try to always bring running shoes regardless of the practice plan so you’re ready to shift if needed.

BKL:

  • Attendance form? Please? Please!

  • Practices will continue happening on Thursday afternoons into the fall.

MASTERS/ADULTS:

  • Business as usual for y’all this week.

BIATHLETES:

  • Schedule Changes

    • Update: No BKL biathlon this week. Go race at EABC’s night race instead. We’ll see you next week.

  • Race Opportunities:

    • Singletrack Shootout #2 is Oct 4th. Sign up early- it may fill.

    • Selecting races for the winter: We want Jrs to be more STRATEGIC in picking race starts this year. We will sent out a google form soon that will help you think through this. Stay tuned.

      • Wisconsin Jr Nationals Dec 27-31. Read preliminary information here. Before finalizing our roster for this trip we want everyone to go through the race season planning google doc (coming soon).

      • CanAm Eastern Cups (formerly know as Eastern Regional Cups) schedule here. We’ll likely send coaches to #1, #2 & #4. Suitable for most U14/Jrs.

    • Lake Placid rollerski TT with National Team on Friday, Sept 11. Suitable for U19 level racers who are extremely comfortable on rollerskis (Lake Placid is technical!). Talk to us.

  • Weekly Dryfire ideas

    • 3-4 days per week if you own your own rifle at home.

    • Sight Alignment, 4x2 minute holds. First day = all prone.

      • First hold: Do a bunch of reps of this:

        • Head up, look over rear sight knob and over front sight. Close eyes and sink cheek sink straight down onto cheekpiece. Open eyes. Are the circles all lined up? Try again. (If it’s always off- talk to coaches)

      • Second hold:

        • Every 20 seconds alternate your eyes focusing on the target and then focusing on the front sight ring.

      • Repeat both holds

Skiers are coordinated. Right? Right!
