Training week of 8/24

[Back to the Club Updates page]

EVERYONE:

  • Attendance form! Please fill this out weekly to help us plan.

  • We are now on the fall schedule. It’s outlined here.

JUNIORS:

  • LP rollerski weekend: NYSEF is hosting a double-header rollerski race weekend September 11-12. More info here. We’re not sure if we’ll have the coach capacity to support this or not, but ponder the idea and provide some thoughts on the attendance form.

  • Time management with the shift to school: make good choices. Talk to your coaches if you need help figuring out how to prioritize things as you dive into a busy season. Make the most of your time at Craftsbury by being on time, prepared, and ready to put solid effort into your workouts.

  • Bethel Camp squad: we will get around to invoicing you soon. Invoices will come from Concrete Foundation or something similar - yes, that’s a real thing.

  • Fall sports: these are getting underway! Please communicate with coaches about what your fall sports life is like so that we can support you as best as possible.

U14s:

  • Keep in touch as you move into fall sports—if there are things you need from us, reach out!

BKL:

  • Practices will continue happening on Thursday afternoons into the fall.

MASTERS/ADULTS:

  • Business as usual for y’all this week.

BIATHLETES:

Great work to all who jumped into the Singletrack Shootout and many thanks to those who volunteered!

  • Fall Practice schedules begin this week

  • Race Opportunities:

    • U17 athletes and older- we want to you to define your winter racing priorities next few weeks. Start by identifying your ski and race values- what is most important to you this winter?

    • Wisconsin Jr Nationals Dec 27-31. Read preliminary information here. Let us know this week if you are considering this trip at all.

Regional Biathlon race series schedule this year (we will go to some of these when there is no major Craftsbury ski club conflict):

      • #1 Dec 12 &13- Lake Placid

      • #2 Jan 23 & 24- La Patrie

      • #3 Feb 5 & 6- Valcartier

      • #4 Feb 27 & 28- Fort Kent

    • Lake Placid rollerski TT with National Team on Friday, Sept 11. Suitable for U19 level racers who are extremely comfortable on rollerskis (Lake Placid is technical!). Talk to us.

  • Weekly Dryfire ideas

    • 3-4 days per week if you own your own rifle at home.

    • Visualization - pick a position

      • Sit comfortably in a quiet place, close your eyes and imagine a perfect stage. You are breathing and noticing the wind flags as you approach the mat. You take care of your foot or elbow placement on the mat as you set-up. You check the natural point of aim and settle in. Your movement onto the target is the same way every time. You take up high trigger pressure & hold it while you breathe. Gently release the shot.

      • Open your eyes and dryfire that perfect stage.

      • Repeat 5 more times.

All smiles at the Singletrack Shootout!
