Training week of 1/19

[Back to the Club Updates page]

EVERYONE:

  • The training plan is here and below. Please fill out the attendance form at the start of each week.

  • Keep an eye on the weather and on Slack. The forecast for the weekend is looking quite cold. We’ll cancel Sunday practices if we think it’s going to be too cold, but will hold them if we think we can do so safely and productively.

  • Critter Count: families with young children, take note! The beloved Critter Count is now up.

  • Mansfield Nordic Skiathlon: is currently scheduled for Sunday, Jan 25th. We love this event! But right now the weather forecast for the weekend is chilly. We recommend holding off on registration (which closes Saturday) for a little bit to make sure the event is going to happen/it’s going to be a fun time, especially for younger kids. Audrey and possibly Ollie are planning to go wax skis (assuming it’s not too frigid) and are willing to bring BKLers who are 5th grade or older along in the COC van. Stay tuned. Event details here.

JUNIORS:

  • Eastern Cup stuff:

    • Nice work this weekend! We saw lots of moments of success and also lots of moments of growth/learning. Let’s keep the upward momentum.

    • Holderness bills went out Friday

    • Quarry Rd ones will come this week

    • The next Eastern Cup is at home—whew!

  • Video from training with Pepa on Sunday 1/18: here

  • Looking ahead at some dates:

    • Eastern High School and U16 qualifier: is coming up quickly on Sunday, February 1st. Register here before the price increases. Reach out to coaches with questions but basically all of you should plan to do this. We’ll go to wax skis, but you’re also obviously welcome to wax with your high school teams if you prefer.

    • Reminder: toggle to the “25-26 year” tab at the bottom of the training plan to get a better sense of what’s ahead this winter.

    • Sunday, February 1 (But! there will be BKL options at the Craftsbury marathon this weekend suitable for older/more experienced BKL skiers + parent chaperones)
