Training week of 5/26
EVERYONE:
The training plan is here. There’s now a tab at the bottom for the full year plan. It’s not all set in stone, but it has our best guesses re: what’s happening when.
Don’t forget to fill out the attendance form.
Shirts/fundraiser for Sierra Putnam: get some fresh biking attire and show support/raise $ for CSC junior Sierra Putnam as she battles cancer! Details here.
Registration for summer programs: we’d like to wrap this up by June 1. So do it, pretty please? Registration continues to happen via your Craftsbury membership portal.
Rollerski equipment rentals (for juniors and U14s): if you’re planning to rent stuff, you REALLY need to get it ordered. We are placing orders this week to fill gaps. After that, if we don’t have what you need… too bad.
JUNIORS:
Year-long plan: check the tab in the training plan to get a handle on when stuff is happening this year. We’ve penciled in some tentative dates for smaller things and firmer dates for other things, like races. We will again be offering team travel to all Eastern Cups. We also have team lodging booked for the World Cup Finals in Lake Placid.
Bigger training week this week: try to get in a proper OYO distance workout Saturday.
Nutrition: we’ve been getting a lot of questions in our spring meetings around nutrition. Remember that there’s a folder linked from the bottom of the club updates page FULL of nutrition info from our sports dietitian, Mega.
Getting bloodwork done: we’ve been chatting with most people about this in their goals meetings: we encourage all junior skiers to get bloodwork done once every year or two. We’ve seen a lot of iron deficiency amongst our junior skiers over the last couple years, which can have pretty rugged effects but is also relatively easily addressed once diagnosed. Just check in with your primary care doctor and say your ski coaches are recommending it!
Winter evals + spring meetings: good work to those of you who have completed your winter program evaluations and signed up for spring meetings! If you haven’t done this yet, please do. The meeting signup is linked from the program eval. If you were a U14 this past winter and are moving into the junior group, your program evaluation won’t prompt you to sign up for a meeting, but we’d still love to check in. The meeting signup is here. Holler at us if you have trouble signing up.
U14s:
Rollerskiing: good job getting back into rollerskiing, or starting for the very first time, for some of you! It will continue to feel easier.
BIATHLETES:
Thank you for an awesome potluck celebration last week of the IBU’s first ever International Biathlon Day!
Back to the normal routine this week- U15/U17+ practice on Wednesday; Adult practice on Tuesday. Please fill out attendance to let us know you are coming.
ADULTS/MASTERS:
Normal schedule this week, with coach Rick making an appearance on Sunday while the GRP is away!
