GRP Skier Kait Miller retires

In addition to the previously announced six Green Racing Project athletes moving on from professional sport and onto new adventures, Kaitlynn (Kait) Miller has been added to the list to make it seven.

Kait enjoyed 6 years with the GRP after attending Bowdoin College and training with the Craftsbury program as a junior. During her time on the team, Kait had athletic success including a classic sprint National title in 2016, 31 World Cup Starts, and 5 US National Podium finishes. She was also a member of the 2018 US Olympic team in PyeongChang. One of her fondest memories from competition was the 2017 Ishpeming, MI SuperTour GRP podium sweep of herself, Caitlin Patterson, and Liz Guiney. Kait says she will also remember all the races hosted at the Outdoor Center. “Racing at home was great because there were so many awesome people around to cheer and support the team, plus it was fun watching the juniors and BKLers compete,” said Kait.

 Kait was well known around the COC not only for her skiing achievements but also for her involvement with many projects. She highlights some of her favorites as coaching Bike Club and Catamounts, organizing the Tuesday Night Race series for 5 years, working in the gardens, monitoring wildflowers and facilitating wildflower walks, acting as surface support for milfoil dive crews for 4 years, and reporting on Biathlon news for 6 years.

Kait writes “In addition to providing me with the resources and support to pursue an athletic career, being a member of the GRP has given me an invaluable sense of place and community both at the Center and in the greater Craftsbury area. While I'll miss full-time racing, I'll miss the people even more. Lucky for me I'm not going too far.”

While moving on from skiing professionally, Kait won’t be moving on skiing in the slightest. She will continue living in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom and has already started in her new position with NENSA as the Youth & Introductory Program Director. We are glad to have Kait close by but will miss her on the GRP. We wish you the best with your new career Kait!
