Spring racing is underway for our GRP runners! With Olympic Trials just under two months away, our track focused athletes are seeking out invitational meets with fast fields to help them run under the Trials Qualifying standards. Most of our road and long distance focused athletes are building towards races later this Spring or Summer. Here are the race updates from the last few weeks, as well as upcoming races to follow:

Jessica Scheriff kicked off GRP Run’s season with a 3k steeple race at the Bryan Clay Invitational in California. This was Jessica’s first race in two years and her fastest season opener time ever, running a time of 10:21. Jessica will be running another 3k steeple this Saturday, May 1st, in the Kansas City Qualifier in her bid to qualify for Trials in June. This race will be streamed live on Youtube, more information here.

Natalie Cizmas ran a season best of 4:22 in the 1500m last Friday at the 54th Annual Hillsdale College “GINA” Relays, running at the front from the start to take the win.

Annmarie Tuxbury is swapping road racing for some track speed this spring, and opened her season with a 5k last Saturday, April 24th at the Ocean State Running Spring Track and Field Series Meet #1. She won the race is 16:31 and ran largely alone in a very small field. Annmarie is no looking towards bigger meets with elite fields, and her next race will be the 10k in Jersey City on May 15th.

Mitchell Black is racing the 800m next Sunday, May 9th, at the Mt Sac Relays Elite Division.

On the trail side, Canyon Woodward is taking on the grueling Cruel Jewel 100 mile race on May 14th in the North Georgia Mountains! Teammates Britta Clark and Eric LiPuma are looking towards trail races later this summer.

We’ll post more race recaps and updates this coming week. Thank you for following along and cheering from afar!
