Women's Running Retreat

  • Google Calendar ICS

(4 days/3 nights)
Price: $407
Price does not include lodging.

Call the front office to book your spot in the camp: (802) 586-7767.

Camp Description:
This four-day intensive retreat is all about celebrating your running journey through a holistic framework. Our days together will include exercises of the body and mind to build confidence and to give you the skills to realize your running dreams. No matter how many times you’ve laced up, all are welcome. Any age, any pace, any dream, any woman, any she/they are welcome.

Your Runner’s Body: Our bodies are constantly changing. As runners, we recognize the importance of understanding the relationships of effort, time, nutrition, strength, injury and more. Workshops will focus on the unique strengths and evolution of the female runner’s body. We’ll discuss the impact of workouts, stress, and age on our bodies, and how to address these complexities in a sustainable way. Our top priority will be on meeting our body where it is and strengthening from there.

Your Runner’s Mindset: What does it take to lace up when it’s too hot, too cold, or you just don’t feel like it? It takes a runner’s mindset. Harnessing the positive power of the runner’s mindset deserves equal attention as the runner’s body. We’ll dig into the anatomy of both an opened and closed mindset, and how this influences our routine and self-perception. Together we’ll engage in reflection exercises, identify mental barriers, and develop strategies to help you turn your mind into an ally.

Your Runner’s Dream: Do you remember why you started to run? Do you crave the reset of a radical change in your running life? Celebrating each woman, their small victories, and their dreams will be at the forefront of the retreat. We’ll guide you through activities to help you re-assess, discover and articulate your runner’s dream. You will leave the weekend equipped with the tools to integrate this intention, growth, and vision into you running life at home.

“As every runner knows, running is about more than just putting one foot in front of the other; it is about our lifestyle and who we are.” ―Joan Benoit Samuelson

Come recharge your batteries running the dirt roads of Craftsbury and join us as we explore running through the lens of both environmental and physical sustainability. Our guiding questions will be:

How do we empower runners to make a positive difference in the environmental crisis?

How do we run in a way that maximizes our health over our entire lifespan?

We’ll learn about larger industries that support athletic pursuits such as textile manufacturing, race event hosting and food production. Together we’ll brainstorm ways to reduce our carbon footprint.

We’ll also focus on how sustainability applies to our own bodies and discuss how fueling, injury prevention, and training load all factor in. Running when done right is an incredible tool for promoting physical, emotional and mental health. Our goal is for you to still enjoy running sustainably when you are 90.

Summer training camp for high school runners of all abilities. Our athletes range from beginner to national level, and everywhere in between! No matter your speed or experience, you’ll have training partners for every workout.

The perfect way to kick-off your summer break, this early summer camp will inspire you to jump-start your summer base-training for a successful cross country season. All athletes will receive individual coaching from experienced high school and college coaches, as well as instruction in mobility and strengthening drills, recovery tips and tricks, and cross-training exercises. Campers will also enjoy instructive and interactive workshops on sports nutrition, injury prevention, and racing strategies. And fear not: it’s not all running all day, we budget plenty of time for lake activities, biking and hiking adventures, ice cream excursions, and more summer fun!

You’re welcome to attend on your own or with teammates. If you have a group of teammates coming, each team member receives 10% off camp registration when 4 or more runners from the same team sign up and provide a group master list PRIOR to arrival at camp.

Camp Description:

Girls ages 11 - 14 choose from running or mountain biking tracks for a Memorial Day weekend full of active fun and friends.  Expect twice-daily rides or runs plus favorite camp activities like archery, tie-dye, swimming, canoeing, and zany team competitions!  Campers will stay in Hosmer Point’s lakeside cabins and enjoy fresh, yummy meals in the dining hall.  A focus on goal setting and team building will send girls into the summer with a boost of confidence and enthusiasm for staying active. This camp is designed for runners of any ability or bikers with more advanced skills as they ride the challenging trails at both Hosmer Point and at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center. Riders must be familiar with single track, riding larger obstacles, and navigating drops a foot down or more.

This camp is a collaboration between the Craftsbury Outdoor Center running program, Little Bellas (Mentoring on Mountain Bikes), and Hosmer Point Camp; combining the best of running and mountain biking instruction tailored to young women, and summer camp fun.

Runners will learn fundamentals such as proper dynamic warm-up routines, how to pace runs by effort, and effective post-run strengthening and stretching habits. No prior running experience necessary. The camp will be held at our sister camp just down the road, Hosmer Point Camp, beginning Friday evening (May 27) and ending Memorial Day Monday, mid-day (May 30). You can sign your runner up for camp on the Hosmer Point website (registration opens January 14th at 9:00 am over here).

(4 days/3 nights)

Camp Description:

Treadmills have their place. Gym work has its time. But winter can get claustrophobic indoors. Add some skis, snowshoes or winter run gear? You'll move thru the winter landscape noiselessly, another animal exploring under its own power. During your four days at Craftsbury, you'll unlock tactics to embrace winter across a variety of disciplines: daily runs, ski clinics, snowshoeing on our more than 100k of groomed trails trails, plus another 20k of singletrack trails throughout our extensive trail network - all right out the door. Once you've learned to winter, you'll reclaim your freedom to enjoy trails and woods that you haven't visited since last summer. More details to come, but put this weekend of fun, challenging cross-training and developing new skills on your calendar.
