Training week of 5/25
[Back to the Club Updates page]
EVERYONE:
Registration for summer training programs: is open via your membership portal. Hop to it, please.
JUNIORS:
Team meeting last Sunday, 5/17: recording here.
Training logs: are a useful tool… if you fill them out! You don’t have to keep a log if you don’t want to. But if you do want to, you’ll find it the most interesting if you are somewhat consistent about updating it. And we will do better at reading them when you update them reguarly.
End-of-season survey and goal-setting: if you haven’t yet done this, please fill it out! At the end you’ll be prompted to pick a time to meet with us, where we’ll go over your goals and how we can help get you there. We’ll do these meetings on a rolling basis through mid-June. If you’re a first-year junior this summer, please fill it out as if you were a junior, as it’s set up for everyone else to skip it (sorry; we’ll work on that next year). If you can’t make the meeting times we have available, reach out if you’d prefer to set up a remote meeting.
All of the equipment: overview here on what you need to train for cross country skiing in the summer.
Rollerskiing:
Please read through the new equipment rental policy.
If you don’t yet have rental gear or need other help with stuff, plan to have practice run a little long so you can get in a reasonable chunk of training. There will likely be a whole clamor at the beginning of practice.
If you need new wheels, check out rollerskishop.com - they generally have the best deal on wheels and have conversion spacers to fit most brands.
Sunday: read the notes on the training plan, please. We really need y’all to be accurate with your attendance so we can plan accordingly.
U14s:
Rollerskiing:
Please read through the new equipment rental policy. Not much has changed for U14s, but worth to know what’s coming as a future junior.
You only need skate rollerski gear! If you’re renting it from us, we’ll set you up with it when you roll in for your first rollerski practice.
Attendance: can y’all work on this one? We keep having a lot more of you than we expect, which makes it hard to know if we should lump you in with juniors or plan your own session.
MASTERS/ADULTS:
Keep on crushing, y’all. Pepa is having a great time.
BIATHLETES:
Normal practices this week for Jr, U14, Adults.
International Biathlon Day! Juniors & U14s are celebrating this on Wednesday with shooting games during practice with the GRP followed by a potluck. Please bring a dish to share as well as your own plate, cup and cutlery. (Adult program participants feel free to join in too- 5:30 on the range!)
Weekly dryfire ideas (for those with rifles at home): Pick a position and do 3 by 3 minutes holds- this week do one of the holds with eyes closed. Aim for 2 or 3 days.
Did you ever see a happier bunch of soggy rollerskiers?
