Training week of 7/13
[Back to the Club Updates page]
EVERYONE:
Attendance form! Please fill this out weekly to help us plan.
Fundraiser for Charlie: Craftsbury BKL skier Bella Altadonna has launched a fundraiser to support her 8-year-old peer Charlie (niece of USST coach Matt Whitcomb) as she navigates a bone marrow transplant. Learn more and support the cause here.
Waterfront use: the waterfront is busy much of the time with sculling camp use. It is NOT always open for use by skiers/families. Please check with coaches before going to swim off the docks.
JUNIORS:
NO WHITES trip this week due to extremely high winds in the forecast. We’re looking for other dates. 8/4 is one candidate but we haven’t fully logistic-ed this yet. Tuesday has a few different things going on for different groups - please read the plan carefully.
SATURDAY training this weekend, not Sunday! Sorry to throw you for a loop.
Strength combine: good job with this! Results are here. The combine is a benchmark test we do annually (sometimes twice a year) so you can measure your progress in the strength department over time and hopefully get motivated to work towards certain targets in the gym.
If you own your own equipment, whether it’s purchased from us or elsewhere, please take steps to make it clearly yours. Remove any old stickers/names, write your name physically on it, add your own flair with spray paint or fun stickers or nail polish or colorful duct tape or whatever, and try to make it obviously YOURS! This will help minimize mixups.
Photos from the Lost Nation Roll (taken by COC HR guy Peter) can be seen here.
Sports psychology - mental performance counseling sign-ups: You can sign up here. These are free and open to anyone on our team.
Team training camp in August: will be in Bethel, ME. At the moment it’s full. Preliminary trip information is here.
U14s:
Did so great at the Laraway hike, among other things!
BKL:
Bring a change of clothes + towel to summer practices. We often end up in the water if it’s hot. We don’t often take the time to change beforehand. It’s a good idea to have extra clothes.
MASTERS/ADULTS:
Pretty standard week.
BIATHLETES:
