Training week of 7/27
[Back to the Club Updates page]
EVERYONE:
Attendance form! Please fill this out weekly to help us plan.
COC dock use: these are not a public lake access point. Please check in with coaches if you’d like to swim so we can maintain good relationships with (a) our sculling camps; and (b) our lake neighbors. Chaos on the docks recently has not been ideal for either. Reminder that the “Lakeside” property up the road is good for swimming—again, talk to coaches if you need more info.
Community workout on Friday, August 7th: we’d love to assemble as many of you as possible for a community workout the morning of Friday, 8/7! This is open to anyone affiliated with the Craftsbury Ski Club: BKLers, juniors, parents, masters, GRP—the whole idea is to bring our club together for a workout. The workout idea has shifted and we’re now eyeballing a Level 3 running workout at Lyndon Institute.
JUNIORS:
Trailwork day: this is happening Tuesday. Details in the training plan. This is our best guess re: timing, etc., but please be patient as it’s sort of hard to predict how it will go!
Sports psychology - mental performance counseling sign-ups: You can sign up here. These are free and open to anyone on our team.
Bethel team training camp in August: preliminary trip information is here.
U14s:
Trailwork day: this is happening Tuesday. Details in the training plan. This is our best guess re: timing, etc., but please be patient as it’s sort of hard to predict how it will go!
BKL:
Attendance form? Please? Please!
Bring a change of clothes + towel to summer practices. We often end up in the water if it’s hot. We don’t often take the time to change beforehand. It’s a good idea to have extra clothes.
MASTERS/ADULTS:
Y’all continue to impress your coaches with your fitness and motivation!
BIATHLETES:
Practice changes this week:
No Tuesday practice due to long trail volunteering.
Jrs going to Jericho have the option to go to Jericho Friday for official training which is 9-11 am. Rick will have a van pick up option in Morrisville. Check in with him if you want a ride.
Normal 1-on-1s this week. U-14s are now welcome to sign up.
Adults practice and open range is cancelled this week due to Jericho races.
Race Opportunities:
Jericho Summer Rollerski Nationals are this weekend for people very comfortable on rollerskis. Registration deadline is this Wednesday. We’ll send coaches to support GRP and club athletes who are racing.
Singletrack Shootout novice races are scheduled for Aug 23 & Oct 4. These are suitable for all of you. Preregistration required.
Weekly Dryfire ideas
3-4 days per week if you own your own rifle at home.
10 Set-ups, each position.
Prone: Focus on pulling back on the pistol grip to “pop the waterballoon” against your buttplate before setting your elbow down.
Standing: Focus on setting the feet first. Then locking the hips. Then building everything else.
We went back to our roots last weekend with some rollerski agility at Concept 2.
